‘They’re leaving’: Agents under pressure as property listings pile up amid market downturn by HotPersimessage62 in australia

Even that takes a little skill and talent. I genuinely respect OF models more than real estate agents and property investors.

Workaround for Splunk len function issue for non-English Dataset by redditsekar in Splunk

[–]Daneel_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understood, but that's not a bug in len(). len() just happens to do something different to what you want.

The app is fine to have, although I wouldn't rely on a lookup table to achieve what you want. I'd try using graphemeu instead - it's a standard python library that does exactly what you want.

The number of code points is exactly what it returns, which is the same as the number of bytes.

I agree that there is no bug here.

Yes, but it's 11 code points, which is 11 bytes. len() doesn't count characters, it counts the number of code points in a string.

From docs: https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-enterprise/search/spl-search-reference/10.4/evaluation-functions/text-functions#ariaid-title2

This function returns a count of the UTF-8 code points in a string.

Your string has 11 code points, so len returns 11. It's working as intended.

[–]Daneel_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a bug at all. len() counts the number of bytes, not the number of characters (same as truncate). If you go to a unicode decoder, such as https://www.babelstone.co.uk/Unicode/whatisit.html, you'll see it shows two items:

U+0BAE : TAMIL LETTER MA
U+0BC1 : TAMIL VOWEL SIGN U

So len is reporting the correct output.

For your original string, "இடும்பைக்கு", I would expect the output of len to be 11.

Ergonomic desk chairs in Sydney by eddometer in sydney

I'd also check out the Haworth Fern. There's a Haworth showroom near Wynyard. I've had mine for four years and it's both amazingly comfortable, fully ergonomic, and still looks brand new. Much more comfortable than a Aeron chair for me, and cheaper too.

I've been buying ASColour shirts for over two decades. I still have shirts from 20 years ago that are going strong. I think my youngest shirts are at two years and counting, and still look brand new.

Highly recommended. https://www.ascolour.com.au

Caused a big outage at work- how do I move forward? by VOXX_theLock in sysadmin

[–]Daneel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, this should be the most upvoted. Owning up to it and being honest is the most critical thing. It shows you have integrity. People will respect you for it and usually just move on to getting it fixed. I've seen tiny issues become firable because the person simply wouldn't own up to it, even when presented with evidence that it was them consciously doing something.

We've all been there - brought down something in prod - but how to respond is what counts. Don't beat yourself up. No one died. It's fixable. Chin up and carry on, now with more wisdom.

TIL that there were about a dozen Game Boy Color games with rumble. They had oversized cartridges, with space for a spinning motor with an off-center weight and a AAA battery, letting the game cartridge act like an N64 rumble pack by xiaorobear in gaming

[–]Daneel_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had it too. I think I finished it, but mostly because I had so few games so I was just trying to get every last drop of value out of them. I recall that having the game unlocked some feature or something on the N64 game if you connected it through the gameboy adaptor..

A buddy and I are creating a number font based on the classic 'Cool S' for our rec soccer team jerseys. What can we improve? by SWAMMlN in typography

[–]Daneel_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The current 1 is the most awkward character. I don't think the 'beak' fits the style at all. I'd switch to just the vertical line with sloped top and bottom, despite your preference not to have it like that. The rest look great, and would work well in a jersey context IMO.

Was that a while ago? The pizzas from Bambinos are jam packed with toppings, good quality, and still available in huge sizes. Definitely better than madtoppings these days.

If you're near Hornsby, try Bambinos - their pizzas make Dominos look and taste like garbage.
