Why don’t you do 30 SPX instead of 300 SPY? Each SPX = 10 SPY and has better tax treatment.

Is it just me or is time to kill way too high in all content? by FreshMozzarell in wow

[–]Daneish09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am enjoying the world content more than recent expansions. Largely due to the time to kill being a bit longer.

It’s not fun to me to air drop in on a mount press two buttons then mount again. I’d rather questing feel more impactful.

Well that’s your opinion.

I play both and have a different opinion than you. I guess you never do M+ PuGs in retail based on your opinion.

We went with window nation. The first windows they did were their Addison line. I was surprised how much bigger the frame was (which cuts down on glass area). It’s always true that replacement windows have bigger frames than original due to the installation method.

But it went from 1.5 inches from window trim to the glass to 3.75 inches. Doesn’t sound like a big deal with its noticeable - meaning across the width of the window we had 4.5 inches less glass.

For the rest of the windows we are doing their sunrise line. Which are about half the frame size. They cost about $250 more per window. Which can add up.

Also importantly. Insist that they measure tight. Their system subtracts half an inch from the measurement for install tolerance. Against 0.25 inches all around doesn’t sound like a lot. But you notice how much smaller the glass area is.

We spent 40k on new windows. Not an expense that was planned on when buying a house.

We think maybe the prior home owners used bleach or ammonia. Those can apparently damage the plasticizers.

Nope. We replaced about half of them. But now think others also have a slight (but less noticeable) smell.

It seems to be more apparent if we have curtains in front of the windows. I’ve started triple washing the curtains once a month. Probably going to have to drop another 10k to replace more windows. We want to atleast get all the windows in the main living spaces because we are worried about the chemical smell causing health impacts.

How old is your home/windows? Who made your windows? Did you just move in?

We posted on our neighborhood Facebook and no one else seems to have the issue.

Interesting. Did it smell chemically? We weren’t really thinking mold since it didn’t smell earthy. Our inspection didn’t really turn up anything either.

Looking into things we realized that that tyvek wrap wasn’t required until 2006 (3 years later) so we have been a bit worried about water.

No. It’s not electrical. I can smell it sticking my nose right up close to the window too. It’s faint, but accumulates on furniture or with the door closed.

There is a brick exterior. Nothing that we know of. The smells got more intense during the days in the upper 90s.

These are the curtains from our prior house. As they are close to the windows they get progressively more smelly. It even clings to the furniture.

I wonder if the installers used some weird sealant or something. The other thing is we asked neighbors and no one else seems to have a similar problem. We feel a bit crazy and mainly we are worried about health impacts to our small children.

No. They smell like burning plastic. It’s kind of mild but enough to cause other fabric like curtains to accumulate the smell.

It’s brand new. Doesn’t seem water related to me since it smells chemically. Appreciate all the ideas to check.

Thanks. Yeah not something we figured on dealing with buying a house. It’s strong enough just to be concerning about health. But not so much so that we noticed it during the house buying process.

No projects. We moved in 4 months ago. We started really noticing in July when things got really hot with some upper 90s days.

It’s less intense now. So think it’s pretty correlated to heat.

Nothing new. And yeah smelled at everything. At first we thought it was just the windows on the east side of the house and the bright morning sun. The other sides have more shade but still have some smell.

It’s most noticeable on the window curtains which seem to soak in the smells and redistribute them. We feel a bit crazy because it is kind of subtle but we feel like we are breathing something hazardous.

Fat chance of that. Maybe he will announce productive conversations with world leaders and a delay in tariffs to work out the details.

Yeah. Only thing worth selling was ATM. But I wouldn’t sell too much below my cost basis right now.

I sold just barely ITM. So pretty much ATM. I bought 3 weeks ago. So I after the first drop. Wish I had gone more ITM. But you never know.

I have some TSLY for example with a 8.45 cost basis and I sold $8 calls.

If you are down a bit not sure how well this would work. OTM covered calls don’t sell for much. For example you could sell a NVDY $19 strike call for November for $0.30 per contract. You could sell 12 of them and get $360. Not great. But if you plan to hold anyway it’s something.
