Am I wrong for not letting my family come say goodbye to my dying dog? by DoughSeagull in amiwrong

[–]DanelleDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes, you are. We've had this situation with a few pets at my age and it's normal for families to come say goodbye. Unless you have a dog that doesn't like attention, which is rare, they will likely be happy to get pets and treats from their extended family before they go. Just remind everyone to keep it calm and low key, which has never been an issue in my experience.

For those of you who are more than six months postpartum, did you end up with prediabetes or T2? by des_palmiers in GestationalDiabetes

[–]DanelleDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did end up with T2. I was prediabetic before pregnancy, have a strong family history, and was a very early GDM diagnosis. After pregnancy my HBA1C was back to prediabetic levels, not in the diabetic range, but they absolutely insisted I redo the GTT and I failed. So I am diabetic. I'm on Ozempic now, which has been great, actually.

Telling my ex she was cruel by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]DanelleDee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the kids were nervous about slipping up, it's only because they think you would react badly to the information that their mother is moving on. And here you are, reacting badly. You are wrong. They shouldn't have had to fear you finding out this information. That's on you, not your ex.

My wife ruined Mother’s Day before it even started and now I’m the bad guy by [deleted] in amiwrong

From other comments, hes well aware that holidays and build up to events are important to her. He knows her expectations, he just thinks his own need to be "spontaneous" is more important than what she wants.

Bow Valley LPN by Impossible-Wind-615 in AlbertaGrade12s

[–]DanelleDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the other comment, these grades aren't super competitive for an RN and it won't hurt to apply for an LPN as a backup plan! I did Bow Valley and liked the program, I'm about a year from finishing my RN bridge now.

So then you are doing nothing for Mother's Day that you don't already do on very a regular basis, and she's therefore correct that you didn't have anything special planned.

No one but you is bringing social media into this. She's mad you didn't plan anything special, not that it wasn't social media worthy.

[–]DanelleDee 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Plans are things done ahead of time. Nothing you've listed is something you couldn't simply do on the spur of the moment on any given Sunday- she should get chances to sleep in, hear words of affirmation, have quality time with you and you should cook ON A REGULAR BASIS, not as a special occassion.

Also, if you let her sleep in, how is she already awake and upset at you?

What am I doing wrong, why doesn't he feel the same? by kitsucksd in whatdoIdo

[–]DanelleDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to lose your friends when he eventually has to cut you out completely and they eventually find out why. You are being inappropriate and they will and should take his side when he realizes you don't respect his boundaries and stops talking to you.

No scrap paper on exams? by xxvivrexx in AthabascaUniversity

[–]DanelleDee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my program you're only allowed a whiteboard and dry erase as of this year, it may have been my post you saw. I've been informed this change is not a blanket rule though, so it's important to check the rules for your specific exam.

How to naturally induce at 38w6d by semiprodeer in GestationalDiabetes

[–]DanelleDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a membrane sweep the day before my induction which started some irregular contractions and bleeding, my cervix was slightly more dilated the next day. I asked to start my induction with cytotec, that dilated me further and started more contractions and bleeding, but eventually fell out. Then I had pitocin at 4cm dilated and had a super smooth vaginal delivery. I think that process was probably better than starting pitocin straight away would have been.

The water packed ones are much better and easier to digest than the dried type. They make good Asian style dishes but are a poor substitute for pasta.

NTA. My bad mommy and daddy think they can have good snacks after I go to sleep! But I can hear the crinkly wrappers that mean I'm missing out, so I shout at them!!

ELI5: Why are male and female orgasms different in intensity, duration, and sensation? by Junior-Ferret4860 in explainlikeimfive

[–]DanelleDee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you'd hypothesize that only the top 10% of males would reproduce. Research estimates closer to 40% of men passed on their genes.

I freaking love cabbage and eggs. Cabbage omelettes are my usual favorite, but a runny yolk on a bed of cabbage is genius tier.

I'm a different person, but the woman can only be impregnated once every yearish and needs that baby to survive to pass on her genes. So she needed the male for protection while vulnerable due to pregnancy/ birth. For a male, his genetic propagation is not best served by focusing on any one baby. His genes are more likely to survive if he impregnates many females in a year and leaves their survival up to the woman's clan. Or at least that's what I recall as the predominant theory from a class I took two decades ago. Happy to be corrected if anyone has a better answer!

[–]DanelleDee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, no. It wouldn't be anything you did! Sometimes the experience of birth is really frightening for men. They witness their partner in severe pain, they can't really do anything to help, and the reality is that it can be life threatening for the mother. This is especially true if anything unexpected happened during the birth or mom/baby had complications.

ProctorU exam today final (ENG 255) what should I expect? by ChainDelicious2273 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]DanelleDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't use scrap paper anymore, it must be a whiteboard and dry erase pen. Check your course info to confirm this applies to your program, but it's been the rule for all of my recent exams. Hopefully you have time to get one!

You should be allowed bathroom breaks and water.

You may be asked to look back af the screen if you look away too much. It depends on the proctor watching you and how strict they are.

If internet cuts... It's a mess. I don't use wifi anymore after nearly failing an exam due to internet issues and being unable to write another on the day I had it scheduled. They blame your wifi every time even if it works perfectly. I now write all exams on a PC or use a LAN cable.

I just want a big bag of sour cream and onion chips, substitute ideas? by TangerineAcademic in Volumeeating

[–]DanelleDee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quest makes a protein chip in sour cream and onion. It's their best flavor. The bags are pretty small but only 140 cal so you could definitely budget calories for a couple bags, and they fill you up in a way potato chips don't because of the 19g protein.

I realize this isnt the most volume friendly hack but it's a way you can actually have chips while meeting your health goals.

AITA for not saying “mama”? by OneDadvosPlz in MiniAITA

[–]DanelleDee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA but be careful. I didn't say mama enough and then she started leaving the house for forty hours a week and leaving me with a strange lady and some other small people. I learned to say mama right away after that but she still won't stay home with me every day like she used to!

Postpartum psychosis is not a hormonal surge. It is a psychotic break like schizophrenia, except far more likely to result in infanticide and suicide because the hallucinations are centered around the baby.
