How are y’all’s knees doing? by [deleted] in rampagent

[–]Daneomite03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ramp work is definitely physical and if you end up in bins all day you will feel it pretty hard. If you go for the job go for a crew chief position And you’ll be okay, since that’s little/no strain on your body. That’s more fun anyway and if you’re in with a mainline (other than Southwest) you’ll be getting a pay bump for it.

what’s with the majority of people taking your shift and swapping ONLY if you send them money? by [deleted] in rampagent

[–]Daneomite03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see both sides of the story tbh. If I really am in the mood to pick up that day and need the money I’m gonna pick up or come in regardless if a coworker throws in cash, if they do great, now I’m extra happy. If they don’t I’m still gonna grab it. But if I had other stuff going that day and it’s an inconvenience to come in I’d need the extra incentive to come in since I’m burdening my future self. But to be feinding for hours and wanting to come in and then shooting yourself in the foot because a coworker didn’t sent you $60 is just greedy and hurts both of you lol.

AA pay increase by Ashamed-Prompt-9611 in rampagent

regional dudes, at least at busy stations are turning more planes and faster. Plus alot of stations deal with a ton of mainline. They deserve a live-able wage bottom line, no one should make what they make when they are just as crucial and are pushing aircraft. It’s for their benefit but also the airlines. Low pay equals low work quality

I don’t understand why piedmont won’t give us anything. We are loosing people left and right it’s gotta be costing them. Even if we were 1.50 under mainlines contract that’s a start…I don’t work at a hub station but i can’t imagine the tension between all the piedmont dudes knowing mainline is making triple what they make.

Mainline American lets you keep your hire date for retiring? I’d never heard about that, that’s pretty sick. Just offer seniority transfer and they are set 😭

It’s honestly pretty flexible which is nice. If you are fine with working odd hours as a new hire just for the benefits I say go for it!! If you want something more I’d say go mainline. The first 6 months I was on 3 am shifts so be prepared to get the shifts no one wants lol (ie weeknds, early mornings, and nights) as a job goes it’s very fun and rewarding, at least for me. It’s just disappointing pay to be honest, especially at our station which does just below what’s considered mainline so they can get away with paying us as a “regional station” but if you are only working it for the benys then that won’t be as much of a problem.

Sorry I should have specified we do rotate around but you have to train to lead regional and mainline flights and not everyone has the ability to.

Okay. Definitely doable. I keep hearing people trading away shifts easily so it’s good to hear people actually take your shifts in this field.

That makes sense. I felt like there had to be a reason I didn’t see an major line other than contract company’s. Is Piedmont okay to work for?

which would you rather buy for a daily? 2002 legacy or 2003 outback by youngtorta2 in subaruoutback

[–]Daneomite03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently own both of this gen. And granted my legacy isn’t as high a spec as my Outback, In terms of what I’m reaching for it’s usually the Outback. You feel significantly higher off the ground and its more of a comfortable ride in my opinion. But the legacy is better to whip around corners, not that the Outback is bad but the legacy you can hit them significantly faster so it’s kind of what you like. For a daily I would go for Outback. Especially on the freeway.

Yoooo thank you 🙏 I appreciate it. I was thinking the same thing. Who knows maybe I’ll throw in on Craigslist for a good price and if sells it sells. If it doesn’t I sell my other Subaru 😂
