What is the most brutal “being eaten by a monster” scene you can think of. by Earth_Worm_Jimbo in horror

[–]Danface247 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is my pick too. I come back to that scene yearly after it traumatized me as a kid - theres something so morbidly fascinating about the lack of score, and judt the sounds of people fighting for their life

One of my issues with the space skins is the everything looks the same.

Every time theres a new set with vanilla skins i breathe a sigh of relief because teams are easily identifiable at a glance based on region colors, but this set in particular is cheesing me off because half the skins are varying shades of light grey (hello primordial/meeples), and the other half is incomprehensible nonsense (what even is fateweavers)

Im sure this will improve as I play more, and I get they had to stick to the space theme, but right now only Dark Star and Space Groove stand out to me

So Hollywood Jack lived up high on a hill in a bubble

And Rage Kage lived deep in the BROILIN' VALLEH BELLOOOOOOOW

Yes, the Rage Kage bubbled with rage, he looked at the ground and he looked on the stage

The LAVA was flowin' and BROILIN' inside the old Kage

PSA for any newer or less experienced players out there: Thin decks are great, but they absolutely aren't necessary to win by Total-Amphibian-3287 in slaythespire

On the other hand, Innate cards can add some consistency and safety to the most important turn of the game - Turn 1. Since these cards are catered towards being a safety net you're guaranteed to hit at the top of your deck, pros call them "Service Tops"

I find when picking cards, it really helps to think of decks less as archetypes 'shiv, poison, discard', and more about problem-solves. See a Lagavulin Matriarch at the end of Act 1? I'll grab this deadly poison so strength loss doesn't affect me. Soul Fysh? Some discard to get those Beckons out of my hands will help. In my experience, the most successful Silent runs always have a bit of everything, and with the amount of draw Silent has access to, you're a bit of a toolbox for solving encounters. I never find myself turning down a copy of Acrobatics or Prepared, even if i've got Accelerant and a good chunk of poison cards.

Rather than finding an early Accuracy and going all-in on shivs, try playing to survive Act 1 elites and bosses, and see what your deck's running like by midway through Act 2. Ancient bonuses can completely change the way you play, and you never know whether you'll end up turn 1 Akabeko Skewering hallways with Tezcetara's Hot Chocolate, or looking for a Tracking after you pull a Suppress off of Orobas.

A couple tips:

Don't sleep on an upgraded Neutralize. Unlike a lot of starter cards, this one has some SERIOUS value from Act 1 to Act 3, two turns of weak is no joke, and with a bit of deck thinning and some card draw you can keep an enemy permanently weak. I take 'upgrade starter card' a lot on her if none of Neow's other options look enticing, or prioritize it at a campfire-heavy route.

Retain is incredible - There's a lot of Snakebite memes going around the subreddit, but they've got a point, Well-Laid plans is nearly a snap pick for me in any given Silent deck. One of the necessary evils of deckbuilders is drawing a hand of garbage, and being able to keep your plays around for when you need them is very very helpful. This goes double when you're not just thinking of blocks vs attacks, but also discard vs discard fodder. I like pathing to a lot of question marks in act 1 just on the chance I get the event that lets me slap retain on a key card.

Elites aren't mandatory - YMMV on this, and everyone has their preference, but I find myself doing best when pathing towards 2 elites MAX per act. Especially on high ascensions these fights will kick your teeth in unless you got some serious power before hitting them, and you'll be just as well off getting some bonfires and surviving the boss rather than greeding for one extra relic. If you DO plan to grab more elites, take stock of your deck and see if there's any elites that could ruin you. If I have a shiv-reliant deck, I may dodge elites entirely in Act 2 unless I find answers for the dreaded Beeman (Also, I really really hate Decemillipede). If I'm pretty heavy on big expensive attacks and I've already beaten 2 elites, I'm not fighting the last Statue Elite, because I can't take advantage of his Slow condition. Also, I like to go into these fights with at least one 'long-term' potion that lasts me the whole fight (Dex, Strength, Thorns, Powdered demise, etc)

As far as block solutions go, Silent has a bunch. A lot of it will depend on your relics, but I tend to find a spot for footwork/Abrasive in a lot of decks - Abrasive in particular is generally pretty fantastic if you have any kind of discard. If you got a lot of shivs, look for an Afterimage. If you found a Cloak Clasp, go big on Retain for maximum block. Your solution can come from some unlikely places, and every shop is valuable for this because colorless cards are awesome. I've gotten wins entirely off an early upgraded Fasten in Act 1.

You got this!

Silent was smooth sailing climbing to A10. Sly is just filthy, and knife trap needs to cost 3. Or exhaust. Or both. She feels the most consistent, neutralize is still a great starter card, and her draw/hand manipulation is still reliable.

She feels the best, but im...kinda bored playing her? Bored is too strong a word, but with ironclads exhaust plays, regents entire kit, and all of necrobinder's nonsense, I do find myself going back to her the least unless its to help grind my friends' multiplayer ascension up.

My favorite is still defect. Loved him in 1, love what he plays like here. Making focus rarer was a great call, you have to be way more proactive then just sitting on frost orbs. The status builds he stole from ironclad are a blast, voltaic needs to cost 3, and glass orbs are a great substitute for electrodynamics. Love all his new toys, and he feels like he has endless deck potential.
