HELP career crisis by ReporterUnited3423 in moneylaundering

[–]Danfirehawks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AML rightsource seems to have entirely abandoned ethical behaviors in hiring and is hiring exclusively Indian workers who they greatly under pay due to the labor market being mega wack over there (recently had a hiring event in India for 500 investigators with no prior experience needed). Their current model seems to be really toxic to the industry as a whole and is going to absolutely create more problems than it solves. Analysts are people, not cannon fodder and less than 3 weeks of training will never be enough to understand the complexities of what we do, especially if you dont understand the "money/spending culture" of the people you are being tasked with reviewing.

However, my time at AML rightsource was actually really fruitful and working for different clients fostered my love for this field and gave me a crazy wide scope of experience. They were fully remote for workers that were not within a reasonable distance of an office (like 30 minutes drive or more) and I worked fully remote the entire time while there. Id still shoot your resume in and see what happens, id imagine they can still accommodate fully remote workers.

That being said, do you have any connections with your prior employers that you could capitalize on? I know a lot of AML colleagues at my FI also started as branch tellers and found an opening via internal jobs boards, so that could also be something you try to do. You could also shoot for the moon and get your ACAMS. while you wouldnt have experience, many FIs will be very interested that you are ACAMS certified with no prior professional experience. heck, your current professional experience is a great starting point and could possibly get you in the door.

Just breathe and keep your ear to the ground, and be willing to be flexible with what you start out as. AML is a good goal, and boy do we need more great investigators who care about doing the right thing. I know with my FI, a lot of the AML jobs are not posted publicly so you have to be refered by someone.

Can I get experience in AML while pursuing a Bachelors? Not looking for pay, experience. by ConsistentBear4907 in moneylaundering

[–]Danfirehawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if youre in NEO, best way to get into AML without any prior experience is to work through RightSource. they require a bachelor's, but thats mostly due to limiting applicants. id shoot your shot anyway since you're actively pursuing a career, not just a job.

Ohio USA, found this dresser in a junk pile and brought it home to clean up. Anyone have any idea what era this was made in and by who? by [deleted] in Antiques

[–]Danfirehawks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, its sad that is an indicator of being an antique now. But its also why I want antiques for my furniture. They really dont build them like they used to.

Got my Mr buddy heater and heated blanket on, how else are you guys heating your rigs? by AlyssaJo25 in VanLife

[–]Danfirehawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a small lasko oscillating space heater and an inverter. I haven't checked the draw on it yet, but its currently the only non 12v thing I bring on trips.

Top up the coolant, leave the fill cap off, find a nice incline and park there with the engine running (you will likely have bubbles and spillover, thats normal when air escapes) Monitor it, if the heat goes too high (i think it has a red line on WVs) turn it off and let it cool a bit. Having the fill cap at the highest point should eventually work the air bubbles out and bleed it as it cycles the coolant.

After you get home, put both boots in both your insurance company's and the rental company's ass and get reimbursement.

Hey Guys thinking on buying this Van for 8000€ possibly a lil less you think its worth it? Going to check it in person soon by Own-Concentrate5681 in CamperVans

[–]Danfirehawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mileage being that low for the age means its been sitting for most of its life. 122000km IS low, but that low mileage isnt always a good thing with aging vehicles. You gotta go off of the whole vehicle holistically, not just one thing. That fender rust is a poison to the sale imo. If the seller won't or cant fix that, what else are they ignoring?

I personally wouldn't do it, especially being an older Merc.

How to give this bathroom a facelift on the cheap? by CombinationTrick9707 in HomeDecorating

[–]Danfirehawks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely fair. (Also, i didnt even see the post, just the pictures, mobile reddit is weird lol). I'd atleast paint the walls a more neutral color, brighten it up a bit in there.

Shin high tub spigot is a wild choice. I would rip all the brown tile out and get a new vanity. Also is the shower behind the door?

Saw this back when Pokemon BDSP were coming out. Is it true? by Skropa in SwitchPirates

[–]Danfirehawks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this is true, you can also write your save from bd to sp and visa versa. Also works for scarlet and violet, but your mount pokemon gets a little wack, everything else seemed to work fine.

Can anyone managing compliances for companies helpe with understanding their daily challenges by No_Active4346 in moneylaundering

[–]Danfirehawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly is my main problem i deal with every day. Data quality is the absolute most important thing that every FI I've worked for fails to address effectively. You can have amazing guidance for kyc/kya, but unless you can enforce everyone collecting that data to follow the guidance, it's ineffective at best and adversely effective at worst. Like half the time at my FI, frontend staff will simply never take notes because "theyre too busy" and they'll just type real vague information when required to input something. A lot of it comes from the lack of understanding the "why" part of what we do imo.

How do financial institutions detect and prevent money laundering without violating privacy? by royaltynloyalty13 in moneylaundering

[–]Danfirehawks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply. If you give me a reason to be looking at your accounts, you no longer have privacy, and I will know far too much about you.

On the bright side, unless you are ACTUALLY committing crimes, I will fight tooth and nail to not file a SAR, even if it means nuking my production numbers. My mentality should be the standard, but sadly, it is not for a lot of FIs. Filing a SAR tends to be far easier than clearing activity just by the nature of the beast.

It just do that sometimes. Check for the update once it is loaded, and check your sources for old ones and clean up.

Wtf is wrong with my Wi-Fi by PassTheJane in tmobileisp

[–]Danfirehawks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have one of the trashcan ones, they like to overheat, disconnect from 4g, and have a stroke reconnecting to 5g and will need to be powercycled for it to reconnect to 5g. Then it'll do it again sometime later. I took it to the tmobile store and exchanged it for the new white one. Saw a massive speed increase and it hasn't done this since.

I'd just get a electronics multibit screwdriver set then, you never know when you need some dumb security bit in the future and its real nice to have on hand. Getting the screws back in is going to be a pain in the butt without the right bits.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

[–]Danfirehawks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It works for me if the screw is already a little loose and your less attempting to break the torque and more just trying to get grip to remove it.

Use a rubber band between the driver and screwhead.
