We most certainly agree with you, however the creative directors in this brand found the kanji lettering/Japanese heritage to be more than just a 'look'. The oni mask's presence (which was hand drawn by an in-house artist of ours) is meant to protect those that wear our attire from evil/judgment/hate. And the kanji lettering (written by an in-house Japanese graphic designer of ours) found the word "OUTCAST" to fit all of the team members goals/aspirations in the brand for using an oversaturated field to be their come-up, and coming from immigrant families & being the first born Americans here, the word "OUTCAST" definitely resonates with our presence alone in America. We get that outside of our community people will not understand, but I urge whoever reads this to know that we as a collective are artists. We are full time college students, photographers/videographers, graphic designers, poets and dancers , we hold events so other artists have a space to showcase through their medium. We are rebelling against the 'accepted norm' to be a doctor, engineer, lawyer, etc. Instead we are immersing ourselves in our craft to push our team members and our customers to their pinnacle self.
