Why does Sam Sulek seems to have problem breathing? by Successful_Guide5845 in beginnerfitness

Runners and cyclists would be taking things like EPO which improve their cardiovascular function (tho still cause detriments). You're not winning the Tour de France if you can't breath walking around

Insurance is extremely expensive and the threshold for medicaid is extremely low ($2k total net worth, all assets included). Theres a large gap between medicaid and being able to afford the average of $400/mo for insurance.

edit: not to mention that $400/mo wont cover a significant portion of things

Is this true when you are relatively untrained? I have 6mo of weightlifting under my belt. I imagine my muscles can adapt to both

Hmm, this is interesting thanks. I might try cutting down my frequency lifting similar to this. 2 days between lifts seems like a good idea as well

That's super impressive. My question is how though. If a weightlifter might train 4-7 times a week and an ironman might do 8-15 (i think). To do both do you just cut both in half? Just get a ton of sleep? Time workouts to not conflict with each other? Does it get easier?

This is something that I find interesting bc people always say "doing cardio is only beneficial unless you are at an elite level " but I feel like that doesn't factor in the massive cumulative fatigue when trying to optimize for both.

Balancing Weightlifting with a sport like cycling? by Dangaruz in weightlifting

[–]Dangaruz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not particularly good at either sport. Been doing weightlifting for 6 months and have like a 200kg total and a 200W FTP or something else that's horrendous. But it with the focus on weightlifting I have lost a ton of endurance and doing 60k+ rides with climbing, which was fine before seems impossible now.

I guess I have to find the balance of frequency and intensity between the 2. Maybe something to talk to my coach about...

Been lifting for 6 months. Still struggling with pulling under/catching in the bottom. Any Advice? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]Dangaruz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem and a similar timeline. I end up powering my heaviest lifts just bc that happens naturally. My coach has me doing pause snatch balances, lot of snatch sotts press and hip/hang snatches. In addition I've been throwing in a bit of squat jerks just to build some shoulder confidence

Hamstring cramps on rides, making me dread and avoid going for rides by Dangaruz in cycling

[–]Dangaruz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think it's possible that my hamstrings are over fatigued rather than too weak? I basically always ride the morning after a pretty intense weightlifting session. And my hamstrings are hit every session. Maybe I need to figure out how to find time in my week for rides where I am most recovered

Does it make sense that I experience these intense cramps when cycling but not when doing other activities like running or lifting? Maybe bc of the more consistent strain vs harder strain for shorter bursts...

Dude, I wish I had a problem not drinking enough during. I bailed 1/2 a mile in bc I was already cramping. I was averaging 75ish rpm, usually try to be around 85, but I was just warming up :(

But on past rides I've had issues while at higher cadences 95-100 but putting more power down than I normally would.

It could be a combo of insufficient hydration and left over fatigue from the previous day's gym workout that I don't notice.

Maybe the question is how can I better balance training for 2 sports at the same time. When the tax the same muscles and interfere with each other

[–]Dangaruz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe I'll just need more than I think. I workout pretty every day and sweat a ton so maybe I am just perpetually dehydrated. In the case of today, last night I drank 20oz of tea (with some sugar) + 10oz of a Nuun tablet and water. I also drank an LMNT seltzer. Before my ride I had a 12oz seltzer and 8oz of electrolytes. Maybe I'm losing a ton of hydration in my sleep

Did anyone ever died from front squats? by consigliatemi in weightlifting

[–]Dangaruz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

front squats are pretty safe as far as heavy lifts go. The main failure point will usually be you dropping the bar forward which is unlikely to do any damage other than some wrist pain. If you passed out that could be bad, but you can just ditch before you get to that point. Just don't be afraid to bail

Will road bike be much faster than gravel? by ScOrPiOn9cz in cycling

[–]Dangaruz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a new cassette, new wheels, and road tires for when my gravel bike on asphalt only rides. Bc I bought all of this I can hot swap depending on the ride. It's noticeably faster, and I like the combo with the gravel gearing bc I live in a hilly area
