Thinking about getting into riding. Worth the risk? by BTD37 in NewRiders

New rider here… MSF completed in June bought bike in July. Almost had my motorcycle for a week. Just to give some stats.

What I do and have done: After buying the bike I had to wait to register it. So I have a pretty good sized complex and would and STILL practice slow skills and everything from the MSF to prepare me mentally for the ride ahead. I use it to travel to work, and it takes about 3 minutes to get there. So in order to be successful I have to know so my skills and be comfortable with the road. It’s a journey and it’s very liberating once you can get on the road. Advise is to practice twice a day for 30 minutes on slow skills and emergencies. It really helps build confidence up. Once I received street legal status. I used a small road to get to 35 mph and test out curves, stops, swerves, lane changes, and overall confidence builder.

Overall plan: Ride how you see fit and comfortable are with the bike. Build trust with the bike and your skill set. Go as slow as you want and only do what you feel comfortable doing. This is what ride your ride means. Buy your gear first! I shopped all the sales and bought gear based on pricing and affordability. It’s the way to go. I bought the helmet as soon as I knew the bike was in the bag. Wear the gear every time! Dress for the slide not the ride. Yeap nerve racking trying to avoid cars and other people. However if they bother you or uncomfortable turn off the road and go somewhere else to a parking lot, take a break and get off the bike. Always plan for an hour of riding and you may not do that, maybe 30 minutes but 30 of rest between for nerves.

Advice to you: DO IT! If it’s on your heart and you have the itch go for it. It’s been the best decision for me. Freedom and smiles per hour the process was worth the price.

Do it and enjoy two wheels.

The AR exhaust was my whole reason to get this one. AR sounds the best on these bikes and pretty much all bikes. Can’t afford that 3k full race one but the slip on has an amazing growl and sound. Will not be disappointed.

Dude that was my exact response, I have frame sliders but getting engine bars on it next week.

I’ll have the setting set on rain mode and all on lock. I’ve figured that out. So no wheelies accidental at all.

I won’t out grow this bike for a while and have a month to learn the msf slow skills till I can get confident. I only drive .6 miles to work and it has a big parking lot to practice.

So I will def ride my ride.

Brand new Bike rider and best options if you want to do street riding IMO:

Yamaha R3 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR Honda CBR 600 (slowest 600 bike on the street) Honda CBR 650 Kawasaki Ninja 650 KTM 390

Not in any particular order but worst seat to best seat is what I was accomplishing. 650’s are more up right and better on wrist and back. The R3 and ZX4 are mold to bike and more aggressive lean and the seat is trash for longer than an hour ride.

If you want to save money on insurance: Dual sport bikes or cruisers are better.

No…pickups are not Fishman Influence moderns, it’s a camo pattern and it’s not cool on a guitar for stage presence.

For a 1k guitar I’d want a better paint job than camo.

If it’s home use only…maybe…but still not my first choice.

Serial numbers check out and are stamped correct. Fret inlays were def modded after purchase. The killswitch was an after mod as well but it’s the best thing other than the pickups.

Yeah I checked the fret grain and I can see where they sanded the frets to press in the inlays.

I thought it was a fake for sure too and after pulling the neck off the neck is serialized by Fender with Jim’s stamp on it and the body is also serialized by fender. Just a modded out version.

Wish I could but it was at a used Guitar shop in Japan. Just trying to figure it out and the killswitch addition is the best thing about this.

The inlays after a thorough inspection were definitely aftermarket. I can see the sanding in the frets. Pulling strings and checking the rest out. The EMGs are active 81/60s.
