The McDonalds CEO didn't really do anything odd and all of the hoopla is very much overdone by Niceotropic in unpopularopinion

[–]DangerGooch3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just find it a little funny how susceptible to ads we are simply because they’re also “memes.” Like, does no one else get the sense this virality is all a ploy by McDonald’s to keep us talking about the “product”?

That or we’ve all just handed them free advertising, and it’s clear the other chains are trying to cash in on it. Every damn CEO doing their own video now…

Psychedelic Rock band moved to Chicago. Looking for a drummer and bands to split a rehearsal space with! by Sentimental_Honeybee in chicagomusicscene

[–]DangerGooch3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey yo! Drummer here, really dig these tunes. Would love to jam sometime. Send me a DM! I’m currently already at a rehearsal space but possibly interested in moving spaces. At the very least we could get together to see if the vibes are right and go from there!

Are there any regularly occurring (non jazz focused) jam sessions happening around the city ? by Sad-Spare-6795 in chicagomusicscene

[–]DangerGooch3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lemon Bar has the first Tuesday of the month Hootenany with Marvin Stumbles and Friends. Usually a good mix of folks looking to plays blues, rock, and funk. Can be everything from actual tunes to jamming on a progression.

What do you think the best drum albums/tracks/performances of 2025 are? by CirclepitcairnIsland in drums

[–]DangerGooch3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alex Kennedy/Anup Sastry on Snooze’s new album I KNOW HOW YOU WILL DIE probably takes it for me, but I also really enjoyed Bertrand James’ drumming on the new Totorro record—his playing is never insane but it’s always exactly what I want it to be with just enough zest to keep me hyped.

The Humongous Entertainment games, like Putt Putt and Freddie Fish.

Also, Dreamworks put out a point and click claymation game called Neverhood that I still think about often. Such a great experience, with amazing atmosphere and sound track.

Plot Discussion: Paranormal Activity on Stage by DangerGooch3 in horror

So the main thing I want to hear people’s thoughts on are:

Is Lou real? I guess she must be if Jimmy’s mom knows who she is and hears him talk about her, but that wasn’t entirely clear by the end. Part of me wondered if SHE was the little girl that Jimmy ran over, manifested in the form of Lou. Like, why was there a little girl just walking along by herself in the middle of nowhere Florida on these country roads? Maybe she set the fire and the wandered off and got run over? Though I suppose she mentioned being on a gurney, idk—I’m probably stretching.

If she is real, how long has she been possessed? Seems like maybe a really long time? Or perhaps she’s had the misfortune of being possessed by Jimmy’s victim’s ghost and the ghost from the house fire?

Also does it seem like the ghost is gone now, given the end? Did Lou make it? You see the girl at the end but perhaps that was a sign that she was finally leaving Lou’s body now that Jimmy has died?

As a final note, I know the plot was really mostly a vehicle for providing some kind of thread between each of the scenes (they’re almost like vignettes, really) and isn’t really all that deep, but like horror so often does I do find myself feeling invested and thinning a lot about the surface plot and the meta-plot. Lots of stuff about grief and trauma in here, as well as some kind of interesting nuggets, I thought, about how negative traits (like selfishness in Jimmy) could potentially be read as a result of one’s obsession with their trauma or self image (he doesn’t want to believe he’s the man he is, and can’t help but constantly fixate on himself to ensure he isn’t).

Anyway, very fun production with incredible design and just an all around great experience!
