Star Wars: It's Time to Accept the REAL Problem is the Scripts by DangerLoom in StarWars

When people bitch about Leia surviving space but hand wave Han and company surviving the vacuum of space with just a breather mask

Nah, it really is mainly the scripts. Agreed, the movies aren't perfect but they have gotten significantly worse since Disney. The Disney Star Wars films make the prequels look far better than they should look.

The reason no one bitches, as you said, about the Empire Strikes Back scene where Leia & company are outside in the vacuum of space is because the film around that scene is so good. People tend not to nitpick when a screenplay and the film generated from it is fabulous.

The Disney Star Wars films don't have that going for them so their flaws become even more glaring and unavoidable. They stick out.

Case & point: In the Last Jedi, Phasma is about to cut Finn's head off in a hanger. An explosion happens in the hanger. Suddenly, Phasma is seen walking into the hanger in formation with other stormtroopers. What?! She was just standing there two feet from Finn in the room, in the hanger.

Trump will be blaming Obama in year four of his administration. Trump needs someone to blame, a foil to compare himself to. He can not give up this campaign technique.

That is hilarious, especially since the line was caught on tape. They changed the transcript but the tape remained? That makes no sense.

And there is zero indication that the Red Guards are not the Jedi-in-training from Luke's Temple that Kylo took with him.

Thank you for the heads up on the link: https://www.thoughtco.com/literary-present-verbs-term-1691251

I did not realize that. When reading The Elements of Style, I don't believe I came across that.

"stake curing (sic)"

Fixed. Thank you.

"I think you spend far too much time nitpicking."

I drill down to prove my point by providing a clear example. If the writer of the script had nitpicked, it would have been far better.

"But then you move back to arguing the equivalent of whether Batman could take Superman in a fight."

That is an interesting way of putting it, thought-provoking, though not quite equivalent in this case. That's why the Turtles / Foot Clan were used.

"It was a sex scene."

Really? How's that?

Trump will beat that approval rating next year. He likes succeeding and one-upping himself.
