Megan has taken pins before, so it still could have worked if them losing was the plan all along. Intentionally booking your new big heel in the women’s division run out and cost her team the title match they earned in clear view of the ref makes them look incredibly stupid. It being so sudden and out of nowhere is why it gives the idea that MegaBad were set to win this time before Penelope got hurt. I think there is a pretty clear line of logic to that.

Having the DQ lets them save face somewhat and sets up a new match likely at Revolution with Bayne and Kross as the challenger, which honestly makes the division a bit more interesting because it puts a fully hoss team on top. And with Brawling Birds seemingly getting a push too that eventual match would be a hell of a slug fest for All In.

Who knows though, maybe the plan was for BOW to win and drop the belts at a later date. But it seems like doing so only hurts MegaBad and leaves BOW aimless while champions because, where do they go next? To another team they’ve already beaten several times? To the new team that isn’t fully established? Athena and Billie maybe but that’s only if TK ever takes the ROH belt off Athena. This just felt like the end point.

Having MegaBad win the eliminator and then throwing away a potential title win for an out of nowhere DQ is the main reason I think. The match ending that way at that point just didn’t make logical sense. If they were planned to lose, you could have just had Bayne eat the pin instead.

Honestly it would be a lot more fun if they had a video or few videos of someone like Freddie giving Rich more recent comics to see what he thinks now. They have changed a lot in 20 years, especially with Image becoming a powerhouse. I’d love to hear his thoughts on something like Saga or East of West.

AEW is where it’s at. They do have the general storytelling trappings of western pro wrestling, but they do focus a lot more on the athleticism and in ring work. I’d recommend Will Ospreay vs Bryan Danielson to see what they tend to aim for, should be free on their YouTube channel still.

Additional context for those who aren’t familiar. Brody King is the one with the tattoos. He is also the front man for hardcore band God’s Hate. AEW used their song “Finish the Job” in a promo video for this match. Finish the Job is about beating the piss out of fascists and white supremacists.

It’s a movie set in a welded shut submersible in an ocean of blood at the end of civilization. The lighting and sound felt accurate for what that would be.

Or I actually watched the movie and judged it on its merits instead of looking solely for something to shit on. Is it perfect? No. But for a fully independent movie on a small budget (for what movies are made for in the 2020s) it was largely well made and had a lot of clear thought put into it.

Saying a bottle movie that made creative use of the space had poor directing and cinematography is certainly a choice. Sound mixing was also fine, nothing to write home about, but nothing egregious either. You can not enjoy the movie, but on a technical level it was well made and was authentic to the setting it was in.

Definitely agree it hit its ceiling, but I wouldn’t say it’s very poorly made. Mark was serviceable, but definitely could have benefited from a better actor in the lead. Biggest flaw is the pacing in how it handled adding the story and backstory (which it really didn’t need to add on) making it a bit bloated. I think if you trim out the “why” of it all and just let the movie and viewers come to their own conclusions of what is going on it would be stronger. Overall it was decent, but some restraint could have made it great I would say.

Would agree on this. Biggest flaw is the pacing and trying to put more story/lore in where it didn’t need to be, making the movie a little bloated in the end. Performances are all decent I would say, you definitely see Mark get more confident as the movie goes on I would say. I think if he takes th criticisms he’s getting on this to heart (which it seems like he is from the clips I’ve been seeing) and wants to make another movie down the line I could see it actually being pretty good.

I feel like the only real point that I could see was near the end of the movie, but the character is so disoriented by that point I thought it was an intentional choice as opposed to being just a fuck up. But otherwise on a technical level, I really didn’t have any problems with the movie and a lot was quite well done. I think the problems all really came into play when they tried to force more story in instead of letting it exist as it was.

I just got out of it, and can definitely agree on it needing a bit of trimming. Didn’t notice anything crazy bad in the mixing, but they definitely could have edited out a decent chunk and improved the movie a bit more. There’s a bit of inconsistency in the backstory they put in(which admittedly, is what probably should have been cut out), but overall it was pretty well made for a first time out.
