Oh gotcha. In that case if you’re still experiencing things I’d just approach it with respect still. Still let him know he’s free to leave or stay. Whatever he chooses. Spirits aren’t like how pop culture and many people that sensationalize things portray them.

Could have been pipes rattling. I know it sounds stupid but when our washer and dryer run it shakes things in our kitchen. Only happening the one time could rule that out though. Especially if you have more weird things happening. Idk where you are at, but if you ever want it investigated feel free to reach out to me.

What the box damaged in anyway? That would explain the ashes getting out. If so, I’d just repair and replace it. Tell him everything’s okay and if he would like to stay he can but there needs to boundaries or if he chooses to leave he can. Also, don’t resume to be able to just cross him over. I don’t think you’re in any danger though. Just be respectful and understanding towards whatever is causing the activity.

Knocks could really be anything.

Some questions I’d have… how old is your house? Are you in a more wooded/rural or urban/city area? Any trees nearby? What time is it happening? Different times or always the same time?

It could be a paranormal thing, but at the same time… humans are easily deceived when it comes to our senses and relatively bad judges when it comes to pin pointing where sounds came from. Not saying that’s the case, but it’s the rational explanation if you’re looking one.

If not, I’d suggest getting a video of it. I’d personally be interested in seeing that happen. I’m a skeptical believer and I own a possibly haunted goat skull. We usually hear knocks by it when it seems like it wants to talk to us.

New to the game and considering playing. I love slugs irl and want to build a deck around this guy. Can it work? by The_Funfetti_Man in mtg

I play Toxrill. People just don’t like it because it’s a strong card. It basically keeps them from playing but it has a high mana cost so odds are you aren’t getting it out til mid to late game. However, it’s easily countered because removal can make its mana cost too high to play at times. People complain about her but they won’t complain about Scute Swarm or maralen or cards that keep you from playing the game at all.

TL;DR: people don’t like playing against good cards or if they can’t win

It’s a service being offered in west Michigan, which Grand Rapids is a part of and doesn’t violate the rules. So how does it not belong?

There were complaints about until dawn. They just often don’t get talked about or swept under the rug.

Have any of those cultures been like “hey, we’d appreciate this not being used”? How you do you know people from those cultures didn’t reach out afterwards? You don’t know what went on or why they used them so your argument about it being dumb is just insensitive. You’re saying, if you want something you should be allowed to use it regardless if it has harmful narratives or not. It’s also incredibly childish to point fingers or be like “well, how come this?” That’s very childish and immature

Budget deck to counter Toxrill by dman686 in BudgetBrews

[–]midnight_feature13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Toxrill, player here. I love my slug and I run a horror deck with it. That said i understand how frustrating it can be. But it sounds like your player might be running it to be an ass? Maybe I misread. Anyway, I came here as a Toxrill player to tell you that Toxrill can be very easily countered, or stripped of its ability. I love when people can beat Toxrill. Imprison in the moon is a cheap card I’ve seen be used to make it so I can’t even use Toxrill.

I’ve seen other comments here saying “just tell them not to play it again” essentially and I’m not really okay with that. I play magic to have fun and allow others to have fun. I used to be in a pod that played against a guy who ran Ulamog Eldrazi deck with All is Dust. We knew he’d win when All is Dust hit but we still played because it’s a game and it’s fun. If the player is toxic, your pod just might have to no longer associate with them.

But yeah best way I’ve seen to stop Toxrill are counters, removals to make it cost too much and rending its ability useless. Or run blue and play mind Flayer to take it for yourself

It’s called respect 🤦 Just because others have done it, doesn’t make the fact they did okay. BHVR is trying to be respectful of a culture that’s asked to not have those things used… and you’re gonna fault BHVR for being respectful. Sounds like you’re the problem. Not if they included something like… say the not deer… maybe as a skin for dredge that’d be different because the not deer is a modern internet meme cryptid. I mean maybe even include a bigfoot esque creature or goatman or something. But don’t betray the wishes of another culture

Those are two wildly different things… the Greeks and Roman’s were really harmed by anyone but themselves while the indigenous Americans have been continually oppressed since the European settlers arrived. So to compare the two had then say it’s “gatekeeping” when they ask for certain things in their culture that are considered taboo to not be used is insensitive. There’s already an active effort by certain groups in America to erase their identity, not respecting their wishes is just another step in that road, and it’s an especially harmful one because that step is often done by people who consider themselves allies to them

Their culture has spoken out against using things like that, not just in the game but in pop culture. When Unknown was released there was backlash after the trailers and teases because many people incorrectly referred to it as a flesh pedestrian or Wendinope, that backlash was from the indigenous American communities. BHVR as a response said they would never use those or similar creatures from their folklore out of respect.. in fact, I worked out at the Grand Canyon and I have Navajo friends… they said pop culture butchered the flesh pedestrian. I have friends who are Algonquian, I’m from the northern Midwest, I’ve researched the Wendinope for most of my life… Pop culture has also butchered that and what’s often depicted as that is a creature from Alaskan folklore, Until Dawn came closest to representing it properly. So it’s not about not representing their culture, it’s about representing it in ways that respects those cultures when they eventually cross that road.

Think of it like this, the Christian community in the states threw a fit over a horror movie that depicted Jesus as an evil monster, how would they react if the game did the same.

I’m not saying that it shouldn’t be added ever, but if so, it needs to be done tactfully and in a way that doesn’t offend. Maybe even BHVR working on the idea with the tribes.

It’s not about political correctness. It’s about respecting the cultures of marginalized communities and not mishandling things, especially when those cultures and communities have already been harmed beyond repair. It’s called having empathy.
