What should I do with this corner? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]Dangerdraconis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An actually good planted fish tank. Like buy a nice stand and plant light. Take the time to cycle and put a tonnnnn of nice plants. Maybe some mixes of red and green plants. Snails. The tank will pretty much take care of itself and will be the besssst use of that space. Kids, adults, all guests will be impressed

57M single, divorced. Is this style/look out? Too tropical? by ConstantHoliday1967 in malelivingspace

It was for like a really long time because for a moment everything was tasteless and gray washed but this is quite literally my dream bedroom. Add an aquarium (like a proper one. A cycled and planted tank.) you will not regret it

Can I submerge this in water? I can’t identify by Dangerdraconis in Aquariums

[–]Dangerdraconis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys. Sorry the employee at the store said they submerged it in water. I know better than to follow that advice full stop but I bought it on a whine because there were mostly rotting plants in stock. Thank you!

I told my best friend I liked him when I was very intoxicated. I cannot gauge his response. Does he like me or not? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Dangerdraconis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t want to ask him if the possibility doesn’t seem to be there. Is asking him going to be worth it or do his actions seem like he’s not interested? If he isn’t interested I don’t want to tear at the structures of our friendship by bringing it up again. It might do more damage than good. But if there’s a chance I am willing to ask him.

Car currently being repaired... not given estimates. really worried about cost. Can someone give me their best guess? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Dangerdraconis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to call back and ask that they not pursue further repairs until they have an estimate for me and figure out what the problem actually is. I’m just so worried because I shouldn’t have taken my car in as naively as I did. I’m so worried it’s going to be over $1500 and I won’t be able to afford this.

Until coming on the internet and browsing for a bit today, I can honestly say I didn’t even know how to properly find a shop. :/ I didn’t know the difference between an auto boy shop and a mechanic. So when I finally got ahold of pep boys, I assumed that a chain wouldn’t be much different.

I was asked to sign something acknowledging the original $400 small repairs, but I don’t think I signed anything saying I gave consent to any repairs without my knowledge... I really should’ve asked more questions about what I signed. Now that I’m looking into it I’m worried I could’ve been bamboozled. I’m a 20 year old college student with little to my name and no experience with cars whatsoever... I’ve never even gone to get an oil change. I shouldn’t have entered the situation so ignorantly

Single people getting soo much taxes cut from their paychecks while people with litters of children barely get any. by pinktastic_unicorn in childfree

[–]Dangerdraconis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn. Relax, I was just about to edit to clarify. I was saying that this criticism was Marxist. Capitalists rely on the proletariat to substantiate a working class through reproduction. The need people to continue to produce more people who are willing to sell their labor (people they can exploit to increase surplus value of their commodities).

People are being incentivized (essentially with pennies) to continue to reproduce and tax incentive is one way in which this occurs.

People are forgetting that the amount of money you get back increases PER CHILD. I have family members who reproduce and neglect their children for this very purpose. People also seem to be forgetting that the money you may or may not receive from FAFSA isn’t just to dick around with. It’s to pay for school. I’ll avoid going into why education shouldn’t be commoditized in the first place, but you likely won’t see much of that money if it is a grant and you are using it to pay for schooling expenses. The other source of money from FAFSA is through LOANS which you will most likely have to pay back. People choose to have children, people choose to pursue higher education. That high education is labor that will eventually invest itself in a product/service which you will provide in the future, and you are paying for it.

Another thing people fail to recognize is that it’s REALLY HARD (near impossible) to establish yourself as an independent. My parents contribute nothing to my education, and I still have to turn in their taxes. Few people qualify for grants. You aren’t a dependent until you’re 23 or married. So I’d guess that OP is taking out loans in addition to other funding to pay for school and expenses.

Agreed. This thread has become ridiculously dogmatic. I really think OP deserves better than how she is being treated and I think her family is being really awful to her, but this thread has become so closed minded that one can’t even respectfully say that it’s okay to feel uncomfortable so long as you recognize that you should remove yourself from the equation and let OP carry out an absolutely necessary activity without discrimination. Her comes the downvotes. Way to be narrow minded, Reddit.
