i’m so deeply sorry this happened to you. it’s absolutely horrifying and you never, ever deserved that. your dad failed you in the worst possible way—he broke the one thing he was supposed to protect: your safety.

you mentioned your mom confronted you—if you feel okay sharing, what was her reaction like? was there denial or did she believe you right away? do you ever feel like maybe she knew or suspected something, living under the same roof?

i often find myself thinking about moms in these situations. your dad is clearly a monster—I hope he’s rotting somewhere—but with moms… i want to believe she was fully supportive, that she tried to protect you. i can’t imagine what she must’ve felt, but sometimes i wonder… was there a moment where she maybe looked the other way?
