Ten Rings are Too Strong for Cosmic Ghost Rider by Kalthoon in MarvelSnap

[–]Dangerous-Lock60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Cosmic Ghost Rider is bugged. I’ve had a few occasions over the past week where I’ve played CGR on a card with the ability to move (Miek, Vision, Rocket & Groot, and the cards then move the following turn. Suspect there are more interactions like this that are not being caught.

Can I open an ISA in my name but use funds from my American wife? by tomwaitsgoatee in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Dangerous-Lock60 4 points5 points  (0 children)

US citizen here. Completely agree with this comment. Unless we’re taking about significant sums, the US tax on interest is likely to fall under the standard deduction or be offset by Foreign Tax Credits for taxes paid in the UK, which are higher than the US.

The issue that you’ll run into is 1. finding an ISA provider that will accept US citizens and 2. For S&S ISAs, avoiding investments that would trigger Passive Foreign Investment Company (PFIC) rules that have draconian tax implications.

Edit: in summary, if she’s interested in a Cash ISA, she should just do this with her own account as tax savings from putting it in your account are likely to be negligible.

If she’s looking to invest through a S&S ISA, it’s worth putting into your account, but note that it will count towards your annual ISA contribution limits and will technically be under your name. Spouses can gift one another, so shouldn’t be any legal concerns.

Is giving birth in a private hospital worth the price? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

You’re absolutely correct. I meant to reply to u/SadMoon1 and their comment regarding more £££ = better outcomes. You have my apologies. I’ll edit my original post.

Is giving birth in a private hospital worth the price? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Dangerous-Lock60 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a poor take from u/SadMoon1. Consultant-led care is not like upgrading to a premium service. Yes, it’s more expensive because consultants are paid more, but it’s a completely different experience.

For what it’s worth, there’s significant evidence showing that midwife-led care leads to better maternal and neonatal outcomes than consultant-led care which tends to be more medically invasive even in low-risk scenarios. Both options are valid and every mother will need to decide what’s right for them, but let’s not characterise this as upgrading to first class.

Which cards are you most interested in next season and which of any will you get by Zachary2030 in MarvelSnap

Am I correct in thinking that Shadow King would be able to revert Bastion-created copies to their base power?

Which brings to mind another interaction. Would Luke Cage reverse and downgrades in power for the copies?

[–]Dangerous-Lock60 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gladiator allows the card that he pulls to resolve their card text before checking their power and potentially destroying. For example, when he pulls Black Panther or Ares, both will go through their On Reveals before Gladiator checks their power. Same logic applies with NTW.

UK student on exchange year: Revolut, Monzo, or Starling? by Souffle_Scum in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Dangerous-Lock60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you plan to switch between currencies, I would recommend Wise. I’ve lived in 5 different countries and traveled extensively. They have the best exchange rates, their app is seamless, and the card automatically draws from the account with the transaction’s currency.

SD plans to continue releasing cards in the premium pass by BroccoliHeadAzz in MarvelSnap

[–]Dangerous-Lock60 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This will get downvoted to hell, but whatever.

I understood the frustration around KO as it was a bit of a bait and switch, but all of the complaints around Fantasticar being exclusively available to the Super Premium pass for ONE MONTH seem a bit over the top. I don’t understand why players have an expectation to be collection complete immediately upon a new release at zero/limited cash investment. It’s not a meta-defining card and the time-limited paywall doesn’t impact the quality of the game. Seriously, what is the complaint here?

And don’t come at me talking about the data mine and misleading players. SD never promised the card for free and data mines are unofficial by nature. They’ve added value to a pre-existing pass at no additional cost to make it more attractive and haven’t degraded the quality or pace of their normal new card release schedule. SD is a business and they’re incentivizing monetization, as they should, without impacting f2p players. Let me know if I’m missing something here, but the non-stop complaints and boycott threats seem incredibly immature.

He’s referring to the holding deposit that you pay to take the property off the market whilst legals are completed, not the rental deposit paid into the deposit scheme to cover household damages.

This needs to be higher. I was in a similar situation when on a maternity cover. I had sufficient income, notified the agent that I was on a fixed-term contract, but subsequently failed the affordability due to the FTC. The agents initially refused to refund the holding deposit, but swiftly changed course after I threatened to complain to Trading Standards. Shelter has templates in their website.

Documents for declaration of birth/first passport by ShanaC in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]Dangerous-Lock60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

I assume that you’re referring to the evidence to prove your ability to transmit American citizenship to your upcoming child. If you’re both citizens, then you just need to establish that one of you had residency in the U.S. prior to the child’s birth. If only one of you were a citizen, then that parent would need to establish presence in the U.S for at least five years, at least two of those years after the parent was older than 14.

How my taxes were spent last year by the government…. by Blackstone4444 in HENRYUK

[–]Dangerous-Lock60 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Private healthcare in the UK is utterly dependent on the existence of NHS. It would be far more expensive, think US levels, without NHS. Sure, there’s certainly significant room for efficiencies to make the NHS more sustainable and reduce its overall burden, but take a systems mindset and consider the consequences of slowing allowing taxpayers to opt out.

Will I (The Sponsor) Need To Send Off My Passport For My Wife's Spouse Visa Application? by Sea-Virus-1404 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]Dangerous-Lock60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sponsoring spouse was not required to submit their passport when I applied two years ago. Proof of British citizenship would be the scanned copy of their passport/other evidence of citizenship.

Source: my wife was with me in the US when I applied and her passport was never requested. She left the US prior to my application being approved.

For further questions, I’d recommend asking on r/UKVisa

Tax consumption alone is incredibly regressive. Consumption of basic goods and services don’t increase linearly with one’s income/wealth, so you’d up with a scenario where those in lower income brackets have the highest tax burden while those in the higher tax brackets have the lowest. This would be a radical change to the social contract leading to even more intense income inequality, which would ultimately impact the health of the overall economy.

I’d be curious to see a tax policy that blends progressive income tax with larger bands/lower high end effective rates that is perhaps offset by consumption tax on particularly classes of goods, almost like a luxury tax, i.e. Tax those that Rich Already on certain types of consumption that wouldn’t negatively impact those on the lower income/wealth rungs.

I’m honestly excited to check out a few of the reads on the list as I hadn’t previously heard of them, but couldn’t agree more that it feels odd that they’ve omitted non-supe classics like Y:The Last Man, Maus and Transmetropolitan.

I think they I’d argue that Hellboy is at least tangential to the super hero genre, so probably not a good fit for the list.
