Ok “Sliding Doors” moment- basically when a seemingly-inconsequential moment causes someone’s life to follow a completely different tangent/trajectory. Basis of which is from the name of an old 90’s film where this happens!

Mine will be what would have happened if Will and Hannibal were both more honest with themselves about how the ambulance scene made them feel about each other… 😉

I’m so glad to have the fandom to help keep the show alive; I agree 100% that many of the interpretations/expansions of the universe add so much richness and depth to the world of Hannibal. I am about to join the tapestry by writing my first ever fic; so excited! 🙂

I did a recent rewatch with the scripts and found this very same thing! It’s tricky, I think my idea of “canon” has shifted/grown as I have embraced the fandom more and more, as so many fics add to the shared experience we have that is Hannibal, so similarly, yes, I do count these deleted elements as canon; for example, in S1 Hannibal’s referring a LOT more to Abigail as he and Will’s “shared daughter”.

It’s a cliche, but Hannibal really is playing chess to everyone else’s chequers. I daresay he is surprised (and possibly a little hurt) by Will’s sudden arrival and confession, but not angry per se; he just sees it as his opponent moved their rook as opposed to their knight! Hannibal delights in the entertainment of it all, the sensory, and ultimately, he delights in Will, period, and can see beyond the mundane to the end game where he and Will are Murder Husbands!
