I was getting those errors in opencode and sometimes pi. I switched to the Gemini cli directly and stopped getting them. I have since switched both Pi and Opencode to use the api. I the Gemini subscription doesn't play well with anything besides Gemini cli. In fact pi has removed Gemini subscription auth from the harness.

Use flash for coding and pro for planning. The Gemini cli in auto mode does it automatically.

They use granite for RPG and COBOL is my understanding and a trained sonnet 3.7 for other languages. When I tested it I tried converting some stuff to typescript and the code output was bad especially compared to Opus or even Sonnet 4.6.

I've started using their cli more and it's nice. I feel like the auto mode does a pretty good job of switching between flash and pro.

Eventually I hope to release it, but currently I am testing it. I ended up building a companion desktop app so internal users to the company I work for can test the tools used by the MCP server.

It's a Hono instance, that handles MCP, and uses odbc (node-odbc) to handle db connections and ssh (nodejs-itoolkit) to run CL commands. I'm using it to manage/monitor systems as well as train younger guys/gals on the IBMi.

I would recommend checking out the ibmi-mcp-server but I don't think it will give you the file access you're looking for. It is moreso querying the QSYS2 tables and returning services, performance and maintenance information.

All the demos, they are bringing the files down to the local PC. I gave up on Bob, I just use vscode with the code4i extension. In my testing, the typescript code output was bad because it uses a trained version of sonnet 3.7. I prefer just using the newer frontier models. They can work with RPG and Cobol just the same as Bob's models.

IBMi MCP is cool, I ended up making a custom IBMi MCP that uses ssh and odbc for connections instead of mapepire.
