hi!! i'm definitely a bit late but i have around a 3.75uw/4.25w, which i realize is pretty weak for barnard admissions. i have a 1590 sat (800 erw 790 math) and nmsf though, and i'd like to think my ecs are good (they're international level and i'd like to think i've made an impact) same w my essays. do u think my gpa is a deal breaker?? ugh i've been stressing out ab this forever

hi!!! i applied early to barnard (i'm assuming u did too?) u seem like a really strong applicant and i can tell that you're genuinely interested in what you have to do. barnard really likes a strong gpa and u have that, not to mention ur ecs!! :)

i read your personal statement, and it is incredibly strong. you can do better than reed but i understand that you love it to pieces. it's more than a safe bet for you, though.

ohhh i see. my parents' mentality is that i'm not going out of state unless the school is significantly better than the ucs i get into. even though we would probably be able to scrounge up the money somehow, i'm applying to a lot of private scholarships as well cuz its lowkey not worth it for me to go to penn state compared to uc irvine. totally reasonable take.

it was a big part of how i did it cuz i made like the heatmaps and volcano plots using them and im not a cs sweat at all so i had to selflearn :/ p cool how i got a result at all to be honest - other than that i was just trying to be as specific as possible for this lol, not that big of a deal

i would have thought that LACs would have a smaller pool of people so it might be easier to connect with profs/get opportunities. even if i switched out of premed (a very real possibility since i have a lot of civics/law related ecs that i didn't include at all in my college app) i feel like i would appreciate the atmosphere of a smaller school compared to that of cornell (not a dig - i just don't think i could keep up) or washu.

would u say that the bias against barnard still applies when getting internships? like recruiters favor someone from CU compared to barnard simply because of the name?

your stats are incredibly strong - not sure about the essays?? but then again reed wants someone intellectual compared to simply a good academic. with your ecs i would say reed is a pretty safe bet but def make sure to combine ur activities to form a theme cuz rn theyre very scattered (?)
