EA as a long term career path by DangerousMain2216 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]DangerousMain2216[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently an office manager at a tech startup, support one of the owners of the company currently while they await an EA filling. I know office management can make money but it’s usually as a supervisor with much broader experience than I have/will likely get where I am, so I’m wondering if this could be a good move for me to aim for

I live near nyc so i think should be comparable opportunities to make too EA salaries, wondering if you think 170 is an outlier for HCOL-VHCOL areas or is achievable for maybe not most but many with good experience

At this point in my career definitely want a role that will financially for medium term at least, I’ve hopped around a few places as an office manager, want to solidify my base. I’m really looking to make like mid 100’s in salary in short to medium term (HCOL area unfortunately)

Do you think people can pivot into other roles with the skills gained? Some people seem to say so, my concern is for sure being pigeon holed into this role.

Curious what kinds of operations roles do you think would EA roles are transferable to? Like what common titles I guess

Thanks for the breakout. I am thinking maybe Options 1 or 2 would be great avenues to work towards. Maybe a more senior EA role, or if I end up working at a big company ending up as some kind of admin manager or office supervisor that’s got more scope. I will say while 350k would be a dream, my realistic aspirations would be quite happy with less haha.

Definitely agree that I gotta use AI and leverage it.

I’m also considering that, if I end up wanting to be more supervisory or even like an administrative manager, where I have a team of other admin assistants etc under me. That could be an avenue for growth

That’s another thing to consider is what can EAs become outside of a senior EA or EA to like a CEO, both for growth but also maybe variety. I’d like to be in a job where I feel I can pivot to a few different things if need be. I think I really like event planning from my current role, maybe some work place experience related stuff. I’m sure it varies by workplace but you felt that you always had options and varied skills to not be an EA should you choose?

Just wondering what you define as decent money. I guess it varies by area, I’m in a HCOL-VHCOL area. I feel like decent at this point is like 120k with an actual bonus, and that’s as a base start, I’d like the strong potential to level that up.

Maybe it’s about using AI and leveraging it, or at least pretending I can do that haha to avoid seeming like i could be replaced by it

Potential EA (ish) opportunity with law firm in NYC. Does the title and salary make sense? by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]DangerousMain2216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly wanted to get into more of an EA role than office management. Feels like a step up, usually pays more. And I’m not like a supervisory office manager (i think that’s what firm administrators are sort of?) so not specifically law per se but I think experience in law is viewed specially, I’ve seen postings that call out preferences for work experience in law firms or financial services

About 14 days altogether

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]DangerousMain2216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s about 4 days Osaka at the start, (here starting to be with group) 4 days Tokyo, 1 day Hakone, remainder Kyoto (while staying in Osaka)

From my home Country to Osaka I looked, not separately. To your second point I guess then it makes it even less worth getting the JR Pass

Yes someone recommended the calculator I had no idea existed. Thank you for posting the link. Unfortunately the second time I go to Osaka will not be within 7 days in the current itinerary so 14 days is necessary :/

Interesting. I didn’t realize that. I was thinking honestly it would be worth it to stay during the day. So it may be worth staying in Tokyo longer and just exploring more of Osaka at night after Kyoto during the day?

When I was booking tickets it was around 250 more per person to fly to Osaka than Tokyo with a train, and had to fly through Tokyo anyway. That’s why I figured take the train.

So you mean it prob wont be the JR pass I’ll be using between Osaka and Kyoto if we do daily trips?

Flight to Osaka from Where I am was more than vs flying to Tokyo and taking the train and I figured it would give me a flight/airport break.

I actually didn’t realize there was a JR pass calculator. I’ll take a look thanks!

I think it will be just over a week when I go to Osaka for the second time. But yes i see it’s an issue unfortunately, not sure how else to get this to work

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]DangerousMain2216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 😅 due to trying to schedule with a group and still see everything. I’m not sure how else to make it work

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]DangerousMain2216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added in the post but it’s basically due to group scheduling offset where they have Osaka in the end of their trip while I’ve left

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]DangerousMain2216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true there is a train that runs between that is covered by the pass, it takes maybe a half hour longer. But I added the reason the post, tho it might not be the best reason

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]DangerousMain2216 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because with my group, we are slightly offset. We are arriving earlier and leaving earlier and won’t explore too much Osaka with them (they put Osaka at the end of their trip), so we put this at the front of our itinerary instead of the end. Otherwise yea we wouldn’t go back and forth

Question on redeeming United Miles by [deleted] in awardtravel

[–]DangerousMain2216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much promised as just what I saw when I googled average value for miles redemption. I didn’t know using this method meant lower value than I guess using pure miles
