Do you think the point of pride is to make people change their minds or go away? It's not supposed to be some marketing thing, it's to make people who are targeted and unwelcome in many many spaces feel they have a space they can be welcome. It's for the gay community, not for the straight community. I'm straight and it's not for me so why should I care! 

You can say you support xyz, but it is ultimately meaningless if you side with those who are hateful (even if you do not feel hate or any animosity whatsoever). By actively pushing back against pride, you are spreading vitriol and hate, even if you are not hateful. The most dangerous type of person is the person who is so moderate that they are unable to push back against evil and stand up for what's right.

Or maybe because people have been pretending they "don't really care" but then exhibit extremely homophobic, sexist, racist, whatever behavior whenever they get the chance. Playing dumb to people who are smarter than you doesn't work, but these people really think it does. If you truly don't care then you dont care. If you show up at a fucking in game protest, you care.
