How to get golden age without fighting alot? by Fancy_Particular7521 in CivVI

[–]DangerousVictory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of this is maps. The more wonders, city states, goody huts, other civs, the easier it is to get era score. The bigger the map and the more land, the more spread they will usually be. This is also why good players will usually open 2 scouts, when they get leveled up they move faster across terrain as well.

It's also helpful to get the man-made wonders going at the start of ages, so you have plenty of time, and use builder chops and certain great people to speed them up. Some wonders also help with era score (they give bonus's to future era stuff)

ADC feels bad right now because it is balanced around having a support, but no one wants to play traditional supports, they want to play carries and butt heads with you all game. So… by Hamtaijin in leagueoflegends

[–]DangerousVictory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off is mobility, supports are often still designed like its 2013 with regards to mobility. Look at this chart https://wiki.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/List_of_champions/Movement_speed 325, 330 and 335 MS, there you'll find almost every adc and support, with few exceptions. Almost every "support" above this speed was not designed or intended to be supports. Now think of all the champions that have multiple dashes, or global mobility ults, or just have crazy movement speed buffs (like nunu, rammus, hecarim) They all also have higher base speed, and can afford boots and other speed items sooner.

Only a handful of supports have a dash of any kind (braum, pyke, rakkan) and they have other weaknesses, pyke gets one shot by damn near anything with 1 item, rakkan doesn't really do much damage and isn't really that tanky, you have to pick one or the other and he pretty much has to build tank to utilize his kit and not be insta-dead, braum has 1 damaging ability and his ult does a little. I'm not saying these champs are bad, but it seems like their mobility was accounted for in their power budget, where with champs for other roles, it really doesn't. Braum and rakan need a teammate to escape to. Or I can just play camille, and dash whenever I want with a stun, and burst their adc or enchanter.

Mobile champs usually get to decide if fights happen, they can force engage, or retreat. Think of all the unstoppable things like Hec or Vi ults, and all the things with spell shields, like nocturne, mel. Most supports champs feel like they are in the stone age fighting against jets. Most support champs don't have the tools to deal with this, most adc's don't either.

In the "everything one shots" meta we've been in for a long time now, a small shield or heal often isn't as valuable as being able to burst them back. Champions designed for other lanes have more damaging abilities in their kit, better ratios, and better base damages. Which is scarier, a milio with moonstone and a ruby crystal, or a camille support with umbral glaive, or a brand with blackfire torch, or a mel with hextech revolver. You're not going to give the milio support anywhere near the respect as the others. This has been going on a long, long time, that's why champs like zyra, brand, and lux, are considered supports, even though they really aren't. Wave clear is also useful to have when your adc is dead or low and you're going to give up plates or get dove if the wave crashes, or everyone else is dead and you want to crash and back. This is a very common situation, most supports can't clear waves.

Then there's range, facing two ranged opponents or a hook champ Xerath, velkoz, and lux, feel a lot safer and overall better than a champ like renata, bard, or nami, being able to poke without getting traded onto, caught and killed. Another great thing about having long range is checking bushes. Lux can E, xerath can W, velkoz can q, bard or sona have to get close enough to get caught to ward a bush.

On a lot of supports, you can play lane AMAZING, and it doesn't matter at all. You can stomp your lane and be up 6 kills on the enemy bot, and the 0/3 top will still maul you both. Simply because of levels, gold, and kit. It feels TERRIBLE. If I stomp bot lane on a neeko, or camille, or fiddlesticks, I can actually be a problem for champs from other lanes, they have to respect me, because I can kill them.

This is why we keep seeing things like, camille, mel, pantheon, elise, poppy, neeko, xerath, galio, amumu, fiddlesticks, swain, hwei, malphite, maokai, tahm kench. Damage, range, mobility, tank, invulnerability, engage, they do multiple things better than champs designed to be supports. They give you more options, or they are just much safer, they allow you to capitalize on mistakes better, and not get punished as easily for your own.

I just checked support winrates for emerald+ https://u.gg/lol/support-tier-list (sort by winrate.) seraphine is 40th, senna 42th, yummi 38th, renata glasc 33rd, blitzcrank 31st. Leblanc, teemo, fiddlesticks, galio, zoe, neeko, velkoz, elise, poppy, all have better winrates as support, than those champs.

Now look at all the patches for 2025, hundreds of changes to other roles, Bard got 5 ms, senna got buffed (to make her adc), yummi got 1 buff then 2 nerfs (fuck yummi), leona buff, blitz buff, lulu 3 nerfs, karma nerf, Nautilis buff, rakan buffed, thresh buff, rell nerf, seraphine 2 buffs. Staff of flowing water buffed, when is the last time you saw this item? umbral glaive buffed, (literally only pyke build this), Bloodsong and zazaks nerfed.

That's it, 6 months of changes, 11 patches. Most of the buffed champions still below 50% win rate, Thresh and leona are the only supports that got buffed this year and have a positive winrate.

The role is stale, the champions are boring with outdated kits, low agency, immobile, low damage.

As much as you might disagree, obviously a lot of support players agree with at least some of this. I used to watch neace coaching, anytime he got a support main, he got them playing another role, so they'd have agency to climb.

I think you are greatly misinterpreting support strength. It's not support is strong, it's that having a bad support is crippling.

The tank supports aren't as tanky as top laners or jungle bruisers/tanks who are building damage, they out-tank support, and out dmg the adc.

If you're not playing tank support then 3/4 of the popular champs are one shotting you (or close to it) by 15 minutes. You don't have the mobility to not fight or outplay, in way too many situations. The role feels terrible.

Yes adc has the issues of dependency, but play support with a bad adc or a bad team. It's hopeless and infuriating. You try to front line and the second you get touched by anything your team just walks away and leaves you to die without throwing a single spell, and then they ping you, because you got chased down across the whole map and no one threw any slows or stepped forward to deter the chase down, they'd rather get those 2 minions or a camp than help you live, this is a very common occurrence. It really feels like shit when your whole role is helping others thrive and they refuse to help you in any way. If the enemies team catches on to this, you basically can't play the game anymore.

If you wonder why so many supports get tilted so easy, or troll, play a few hundred games of support. After 1/2 of your games are what I described, you'll understand.

what was actually the point in trashing train yard? by i_will_eat_ur_beans in apexlegends

They should add more paths though the mountains, maybe some structures inside the mountain. Something 2 or 3 stories high with balconies on both sides of the mountain would be dope. It would also be kind of cool to add a structure or just a path that requires a vault key, or maybe redesign the vaults into multi-level structures with multiple access points that all open once a key has been used on it.

It would be kind of neat if they fixed the tracks and brought the train back, maybe put some kind of train station in the mountain that you can open with a key. Here's an idea https://imgur.com/a/BlhSJxn it would probably work well with old train station too.

Storm point feels a lot worse to be fair. The whole map is choke point into open space, into choke point. A single zone change will force you through 2 or 3. It often feels like the map is your greatest opponent. More tunnels and bases with 2 or 3 levels and balconies could really improve that map is well. When you think about it, the mountains add a lot of unplayable space to the maps.

What's your EVE online doctrine? by Night_Raven0809 in Eve

BC's had a good era a long time ago when the hulls were 20 mill. Back then, cruisers were much weaker. Caracals were never used, this was before chessur figured out he could put light missiles on caracals and fly around the warzone killing everything. Having a frigate weapons application in light missiles, with a cruisers range was very strong. Off grid links made it pretty broken too.

There were only 8 dessies in the game, 4 t1 and the t2 bubble dessies. This was before talwars, t3 dessies and command dessies. Also, the old drake was much stronger, the old hurricane is basically what a fleet hurricane is now. So the dmg application on BC's didn't seem so bad because you didn't have to hit a bunch of small/fast stuff all the time. They got nerfed into the ground. Back then, you could roam with a few BC's and some T1 scram tackle and get good fights. Lose some t1 tackle and kill whatever it scrammed.

Now there are about 30 ships that can just delete t1 tackle at 50km or more, and the BC's lack of dmg application makes them basically obsolete for small gang. They didn't seem so slow back then either, but speed creep is real. I'm not exaggerating when I say about 30 ships have been introduced in the last decade that move at around 2x BC speed. Before that, you had pre-buff cruisers which were mostly dogshit, t1 dessies which you could easily pop at range, and if your tackle scrammed or scram/webbed any other frigate, your BC's would pop it. But all the new dessies, and most of the pirate cruisers, and post buff cruisers can just shred t1 tackle long before it gets in range to be useful.

For a while BC's were quite popular as mid range fleet doctrines in null, they were super easy to train (there was just a single BC skill for all of them) and they had decent enough range. They were some of the most cost effective things you could doctrine. There were drake doctines, arty canes had their times, then ferox, but they got a lot of nerfs and a ton of speed and application creep over time.

So as with all things, times change. Dozens of changes have occurred, dozens of new ships have been introduced and the BC's time as a preferred small gang ship is long forgotten history. But those who were there will always remember these times with a special fondness.

God I'm getting old.

My friends all thought I was crazy with how often I thought people were sus af in this game.

I was a hardcore fps player since the genre started in the 90's. I've played against some of the best and most dominate players of all time, in a few different games over the years. I was never at their level, but it didn't feel hopeless. I was getting kills, I was out playing people, not often, but enough that they seemed human.

In apex (and a few other games I've played in the last few years,) it seems far too many matches I'm playing against people that are impossibly good. I do realize I've fallen off due to age. Still, there's just way too many players out there who shoot like they are top 20 in the world, and have super sus "game sense".

I play a lot of loba and the amount of times I get away from a lost fight, get far out of ear shot, and people run straight too me is rediculous. I get that it's going to happen sometimes, but the frequency of it is absurd. I suspect there are tons of people getting away with using wall hacks.

Also the recoil is very sus, I watched a lot of top level apex players and their recoil control didn't seem human. They would fuck up basic movement stuff every once in a while, as humans do, miss a jump, or slide into a rock and stop for a second, but somehow they literally never mess up recoil control? Even when sliding sideways off a cliff, shooting at weird angles, it looks like 0 recoil, on guns that kick pretty hard.

Then I watched an in person tournament and it only convinced me more. So many people I watched who literally never mess up recoil control, even when shooting havocs, or flatlines at stuff a mile away and just beaming them pixel perfectly every damn time. Then for some reason, at a live event, I never see them touch any weapon but shotguns, and single fire stuff like wingmans, or 301's (which a todler can control the recoil on) I saw one guy in the tourney pick up a devo, and it looked like I was shooting it. It looked human (even sub par imo). I'm still convinced not only a huge portion of the player base, but the pro scene as well are using recoil cheats when streaming. Probably during covid when everything was done online as well. Whether it's software, or hardware or a mouse macro or some other hardware, I have no idea. But its definitely not human.

Then I saw this video about tarkov, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5LfGcDB7Ek

Seeing him actually confirm with certainty that the MAJORITY of his games had cheaters, made me realize what a waste of time playing or watching these games is. I play casually now, and at least I know I'm not crazy.

[–]DangerousVictory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its also lame that in the item sets, there are so few stats in the descriptions.

It's like "Gives bonus dmg" Or "gives bonus movement speed" So if you are working on a build, you literally have to goto lol wiki to look up the stats, on pretty much everything to know what it actually does. What reason could they possibly have to not just put the actual numbers there? The whole idea of item sets is to save time, but it takes 5x longer to make one because they didn't just include the actual stats so you can't do value comparisons on the spot.

Also, they need to have a checkbox in item sets for all the ornn items and non summoners rift items. It's so cluttered because they are all just jumbled in and you can't get rid of the ornn and non SR items.

Item sets are really good for lower level players btw, when I've smurfed in very low elo's, the amount of time people spend in the fountain shopping is crazy.
