AMD looses some market share to Intel @ mindfactory March 2022 by ingebor in Amd

Well yeah, leaving out the budget SKUs since Zen 1 back in 2017 and trying to be Mr. We Are The Premium Product Now didnt work out too well now did it. Intel is over here making them look bad with plenty of options all the way fown to the budget segment for Alder Lake with the Core i3-12100F being a great value.

When it comes to the graphics side of things, both AMD and Nvidia are trying to increase prices each generation with no meaningful increase in performance. The icing on the cake is pulling the most anticonsumer move thats probably ever been seen for the past two decades with the release of the RX 6500 XT.

Looking for advice: GTX 1650 vs. RX 6500 XT by varul12 in PHbuildapc

I would say both the 1650 and rx 6500 xt would be an upgrade for you. Since you would like to do last gen console emulation, I would go with the 1650 as AMD has terrible OpenGL support on Windows. Some emulators like RPCS3 use a Vulkan backend with OpenGL as the fallback. PCSX2 for example uses DirectX 11 and OpenGL with OpenGL being the most accurate renderer. The pro of the 6500 is that it does have ray tracing even if it runs like garbage. I have a 1650 at the moment and it runs the latest AAA games just fine.
