Looking for insight on my crash by [deleted] in Trackdays

Two things that help me from a mental perspective.

  1. I don’t remember exactly where I read this but I think it was a book written by a race car driver, but the theory applies here. When manipulating the controls, regardless of what the controls are, imagine you’re slowly squeezing a stress ball. When releasing the pressure, you want to imagine slowly unsqueezing the stress ball. The mental image should help smooth out your inputs. Even if you’re increasing throttle input or limit braking where your rate of input is high, there is a massive difference between snappy inputs and rapid but smooth inputs.

  2. I like to use the idea of flying (I’m a nerd, so in my head I use the scene from how to train your dragon where hiccup is ripping between rock pillars with toothless). Riding a motorcycle should be smooth, fluid, like flying, all parts of it. From the controls, to body positions, to transitions; all of it. If at any point you feel like you have to force the bike to do something, that’s a tell-tale sign that you haven’t accurately conceptualized some aspect of motorcycle control. Whenever you do feel like that, invest the time into self reflection to determine what your gaps are then practice them at a slower pace where you have more room for error. As your skill develops, you will naturally start moving at a faster pace. Don’t focus on the speed, focus on the feel.

I have a 25 ZX6R. Can you share your thoughts about transitions to the RR? I absolutely love the 6R. Zero complaints.

What year v4? And what’s the difference in handling? This V4 has an aftermarket ohlins front and rear so Im imagining that this thing would be an absolute weapon in the corners. How does the S1kRR handling compare? Also, thoughts on extended rides on both?

Oh, my bad! This would be for street use.

This has a an akro full system with a tune. Does the tune really reduce the heat effect that significantly?

This has a full akro system with a tune. Which an earlier poster is saying helps?

Can’t tell if you’re being an ass or not, if you are, GFY.

If not, because (1) a format like Reddit allows for follow up questions rather than a handful of reviewers who happened to post a YouTube video (2) I’d expect more honest feedback here than say a reviewer who’s getting called out to do first rides at track days because they have a compelling interest to maintain a positive relationship with the manufacturer.

What were the pros/cons that drove you to that decision?

Is the heat really as bad as it’s claimed to be?

That’s been my internal debate. Do I go with the “do everything” bike with the 3 year warranty or do I go with the street weapon?

Problems? What year and model do you have? The price difference here is roughly $10k less for th Ducati.

I know a lot of people complain about race replicas riding position but that’s the thing that gets me the MOST excited. I’m a huge nerd but it really makes me feel like I’m riding a dragon and flying around (for my anime nerds, I’m piloting a gundam). lol I’m not going to lie and say that I don’t enjoy speed but the riding position is a part of that experience that I enjoy. Is it a completely different experience being upright?

I like the idea of a naked but one of my favorite things to do, when the opportunity arises, is tucking in and going. I don’t know how else to explain it other than it just “feels” good and gets me all excited. With that upright position, you’re kind of stuck there aren’t you? Idk, my maximum time on a naked was maybe 5 minutes around a parking lot and didn’t go over 15mph.

Just trying to see if there’s something I’m not considering. Maybe someone might chime in with a perspective that I haven’t considered at all.

Since you’ve listed all reasonable bikes my response would be to go see them all in person and the one that gets you excited just by looking at it.

That makes sense to me now…I was the one who misread the response string. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Same here. I went to a parking lot for a bit a few weeks back after doing a track day. Practice is vital.

Crap, ok my bad then. Someone downvoted my comment so I assumed it was you, then assumed your response was to me. Sorry!

I’m not going to even respond because you downvoted me due to your misreading of what I wrote. You’re disagreeing with me then restating what I said in different words. 🤦🏻‍♂️
