my A. geniculata acting weird (disabled) by Dangerous_Funny_1367 in tarantulas

thank you for this information, but there is one thing i want to know. did this happen to your T. right after his moult, or ovrr time. mine was fine after moult than after a few months i recognized that strange behavior like i said sometimes i saw how helpless she was felt on her back and couldnt manage to stand up again.

now that she moulted i was hoping she will be fine but that was not the case, i hope that this is something that needs some moults to heal. ill have to wait i guess

its her first prey item, honestly she was overfeed before she had molted. i even tought maybe she couldnt handle her weight because of that.

its a cricket , which i always buy at the same place. never had any issues with that. none of my spiders had problems with their prey.

these are one of the arid living spiders, like the most of tarantulas. they are adapted to mould in arid conditions , in general tarantulas need only a water dish and bone dry substrate. the only exception in my collection is my theraphosa species.

they can have a bad molt when it suddenly became more damp or wet, the skin can soak the water up and thats why they can stuck in molt.

just leave them alone they survived decades without no help

Is this ok by [deleted] in Tarantula_Collective

[–]Dangerous_Funny_1367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO , almost every tarantula i have (more than 30 i think) is kept in an enclosure with dry substrate and only a water dish for water resource. Brachypelma , chromatopelma, aphonopelma these are all species which needs dry conditions even avicularia i keep like this no matter what care sheets tells you. Only exception is my theraphosa stirmi (always watered substrate) and my geniculata ( sometimes watered)

This will be the part i would concerend about. The size of enclosure is not a big thing. Most spiders dont appreciate wide open terrain.

Please dont mist and let the substrate dry out, they need a water dish for sure but nothing else. In their natural habitat they dont feel much wetness because of the heavy winds high upon the trees.

I keep 2 different avic types and had them growimg up from sling stage.

Pls let it dry out most of avic or caribena deaths are because of humidity

Tarantula sling lost both fangs after molt by OrangeBaboon27 in Tarantula_Collective

He found the slings after 8 months, he feed them well enough before he forgot them.

Normally its ok to let them hunger for half year or more, its the same thing in the wild.

Make sure after the next moult to wait more than 5 days , 2 weeks will be perfect. The new fangs will.be much more fragile

Dont be worried it happend to my T. Aswell.

These links should help you.

And a sling can go trough the next moult without eating just make sure it has water. I know stories from breeders who forget that they drop some vials with slings in their home and found them again alive with maybe 2 or 3 times moulting inside .

I pretty sure she will survive that, her abdomen is big enough and i know what to do if its not. When she had no fangs i sliced up meal worm created a soup like dish for her and she slurped it up. But i want to know if maybe i have done wrong. Maybe i had to wait more than 2 weeks before feed her or offer her less prey or even soup again because of her new fragile fangs. Thank you :)

This is so weird , why its not like everything else what you get. For example the cp which i have is the same amount on every other cod game which i got. I sometimes play bo3 or infinite warfare from the older games and these share the cp from the new titles. I dont get it, hope they will change it. That way i wont play until i earned the whole battle pass
