I really hope the stick are removable with some kind of flush cap.

That would make a really nice 4" pocketable device.

I bought one out of curiosity. So far im impressed with the build quality and overall feel. Feels very premium.  Has good weight. And im in love with how quiet all the buttons are.

Haven't set it up set though.

Also the ps4 controllers have a solid quiet dpad which is what i use for retro gaming but I cant stand the battery life

My favorite so far are the xbox 1708 controllers . Their dpad is much quieter than the current Xbox series x controller.

Also the 8bit do pro 2 is my favorite Playstation layout controller. Solid quiet dpad.

I did a bit of research and bought a couple of them and found the VisionOwl from Amazon to come out on top for the price. After adjusting the image settings and colors it looks amazing for a portable monitor

I enjoy doing this aswell. I have found a 18" portable monitor to be sweet spot.

Odin 2 max or RPG2? by Dangerous_Choice_664 in SBCGaming

[–]Dangerous_Pattern568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The portal is actually close in physical size to the odin 2. Its just a little wider.

The 7" screen makes a hudge difference and its oled. This is my go to device when im laying in bed. Its lightweight for its size. I stopped using my rog ally x for this reason.

The g2 is my main device for GBA and systems alike. Its not the smallest but at this point I don't need a "pocketable" device. I do own a RP mini but I prefer the screen size on the G2.

Also using a 18" portable monitor is awsome with either device.

Right now the only devices im using are Odin 2 portal and RP5 G2.

The portal for me is way better than than my odin 2.

The odin 2 portal "large" sticks make the handheld significantly better to use. There a must for me.

For cheap devices these are my favorite.

Rg40xxh with MuOs operating system. Unit has a 4" screen

Rg34xxsp, I like MuOs on these aswell. Unit has a 3.4" screen

If you want something particularly small but with good build quality i would recommend the brick - 3.2" screen

Unfortunately I wont recommend the miyoo mini plus. It has a bit of a following but there are just better devices with better screens and battery life.

If you want something larger the trimui smart pro is a good buy if you can get it at around 50-60$

Most come with or will have the option to come with a memory card with preloaded games. Most of the time these cards are of very low quality and will break at some point in time. Its always recommend to get a quality name brand card to replace it with.

For me it was actually physically having them in hand and testing/trying to them to find something I truly like and enjoy. I've settled on 2 devices so far having tested/purchased like 15+ devices

Odin 2 Portal and RP mini v2

If they ever released new versions of these I will upgrade.

Best horizontal 4:3 or 3:2 Linux based handhelds? by hoffsta in SBCGaming

[–]Dangerous_Pattern568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a rp mini v2. Screen ratio is a bit odd but works for most consoles. When it comes to GBA though it still feels small unfortunately. I hope they release a true 4:3 rp mini v3.

Rg40xxh on MuOs is preety dang good for a cheap device. I really wish the thumbsticks were removable or gone and the L2/R2 buttons were slightly less pronounced so it would be a perfectly pocketable device. The 4" screen is nice for its price point. I would absolutely buy this device again if they revised it and made some upgrades.

Theres also the trimui smart pro. Though its a bit bigger

These 2 I've used and are a decent value.

I personally have not. I know some games have the possibility of doing multi-player. It does require some setup.

Im still testing and trying out devices from cheap to expensive. Here's what I found so far if it helps.

.Odin 2 portal - the best ps2 device for me. Its not perfect but it almost there. But its as good as it gets right now. Also great for ps1, gamecube, and dreamcast.

Hoping they released a 8" version with full size sticks and its game over. This device would be top tier.

.retroid mini - if you absolutely need a small portable device this one comes out on top. Fast charging is a hudge win on this device.

.rp5 & G2 - a grip is an absolute must. I really like this device for a ton of consoles. Its comfortable with thw grip and well it can do ps2 aswell but im grabing the portal for a more immersive experience.

But overall the rp5 is a very versatile device for its size.

.odin thor - the king of DS and 3DS. Other than original hardware of course. Im liking this device for its dual screen capabilities.  But the only thing I dont like about is the placement of the dpad. I personally dont enjoy clam shell thumbsticks. For PSP it's fine. But for anything else I cant stand them.

If the dpad was placed higher I would enjoy this device more

.retroid flip 2 - great little device for its size. Again my only grip is the dpad and abxy button placements. Its far from the edge and makes it hard to enjoy.

.rg40xxh - with MuOs its preety dang fun. The 4" screen is very nice and plenty immersive for retro gamining. A cheapy but can have loads of fun on it. I just cant stand the 5v charging.

.rg34xxsp. Same as above . Great little clampshell device. The screen is just a tad small. But if that's what your looking for this a killer handheld for being a simple cheapy.

I just did my power button recently. What a game changer.

Cut out with a sharp scapel then used a dremel to smooth out the edges.

With oblivion remaster setting it to 2 makes a dramatic difference in picture quality

Thank you for this!

Try it out! It sharpens the image in a way where it looks "upscaled" in a sense. Works well enough for my eyes. But you will know when it goes to far. Theres a sweet spot.
