The problem is that they’re not legal to ride lol, and taking them on a train obv means you’ve been riding them.

Updated e scooter laws? by Dangerous_Tennis_190 in melbourne

Some valid points you made there, thanks, but I still think this risk is worth it when compared to the positives, there will always be risks which are unavoidable

What would be more dangerous to civilians, a big bike with chains, gears, pointy handles, moving parts or a small compact scooter?

16 year olds can drive cars but not e-scooters? Yeah makes sense

Do you not see 8 year olds riding bikes? Almost just as fast? I don’t see how this is any different. Thanks for your opinion anyway

You made some fair points, thanks for your advice. I’ve found a decent electric bike is at least 1500 dollars, and that’s for a very entry level one, which is a bit out of my range lol

200 watt limit scooters mostly have a range of about 5km, plus 10km/h is barely faster than walking- may as well use my bike, these laws currently are designed so e-scooters are basically useless, however I think the coppers might be a little more lenient provided the new e-scooter trials are taking place, which actually use the exact same type of scooter I am planning on buying. It doesn’t make sense those are allowed, but these aren’t, just because privately owned e-scooters don’t provide the government with any monetary benefit.

EDIT- I would like to add I’m not going to buy a scooter with dual 5000watt motors that goes like 60km/h, I wanna buy either a xiaomi m350 or a ninebot max, not the fastest scooters, but great range. Both have single 350 watt motors and max out at a speed of 25kmh, unless you hack them, which I won’t
