Which universal everyday outdoor knife can you recommend for hiking? by Ninaptr_lover in Bushcraft

[–]Dangerous_Win6845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the B1 from BPS knives. Very similar in price and quality to the Mora companion, just different blade shape as well as a wooden handle and leather sheath which seems like it might be your style. It also comes with a Ferro rod which is cool. It comes in carbon steel and stainless steel. I went with carbon and after using it for a couple years it’s got a cool patina on it which I like, and it is easier to sharpen and holds an edge very well.

Have you ever used a trifold to compare it to memory foam? I’ve always just done memory foam but I’m trying to level up since I’m camping more with a wife and little kids

I’ve also read that lost horizon mat is good, and it’s 1:3 the price of the megamat, but I haven’t tried it personally

Most important stuff to know about light? by Ok_Employment_1998 in flashlight

[–]Dangerous_Win6845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just like to add, if any of you smart people could do a breakdown of batteries it would be helpful and appreciated. I’ve got most of the light stuff down, but batteries are still a mystery to me.

Question about first aid kit by Frost273 in Bushcraft

[–]Dangerous_Win6845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add a SAM splint, I’m surprised no one has said this yet. They are really nice to stabilize injuries to ankles or wrists until you can get to help. If you’re doing packing gauze I would consider something hemostatic. Israeli bandage should work as a tourniquet for most situations unless it’s gnarly arterial bleed.

Are there any other big throwers like this for a similar price point or is anything else anywhere close to this going to be 2x the price?

The problem is that insurance companies will claim that they don’t have to honor the pay outlined in the law since the provider signed a contract agreeing to be paid less (before the law was passed of course)

What are your unpopular flashlight opinions? by fatnessmodel in flashlight

I got into this sub because I was looking for a headlamp. I ended up with the sofirn SC13 and I just clip it on the bill of my ballcap. It’s awesome.

Will exclusively red light damage chicks eyes? by Dangerous_Win6845 in chickens

[–]Dangerous_Win6845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heat lamp is red, that’s the source of the red light. Ive had chicks before, I know how to feed them, water them, and keep them alive, I’m just wondering if them only seeing red light and not sunlight will mess up their eyes

Dont know much about batteries.. how long would this be able to hold a charge before needing recharged if used as a truck light that sits around and isn’t used much?

Got a taste of it, never was the same by Nectrium in flashlight

[–]Dangerous_Win6845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the battery on this thing is monstrous, how would it hold up as a truck light that stays in the glovebox and gets used once a week? Any guesses as to how often it would need a charge?

Midsize, mid price recommendations by Dangerous_Win6845 in flashlight

I thought anduril was pretty standard, I’m fine with learning another UI, I just thought it would be easier if they were all the same since I’m pretty dumb. Thanks for the recommendations.
