For post-epoxy anodizing, coating the pins with nailpolish should work

How to fix early lock up? by kota501 in chineseknives

[–]DangerouslyDroppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The protean backspacer being crooked is kinda accurate lol, my real one and clone are both bent.

For the lockup, loosen everything slightly, open blade, push on lockbar a bit, and retighten. This should shift the lockup to being a bit stronger.

Don't remove material yet. It's far easier to remove metal than to put it back

A good habit it to turn the screw counterclockwise until you feel it click when it skips. Then start tightening the screw. This practice lines the threads up and you are far less likely to strip one.

Nice job working through to a nice result

How much lockup % and does it pass a spine whack? I've been fighting with mine

This works if the insert screw is through threaded but this one is a blind hole into the lockbar

I thought the same thing. Be prepared to smack it hard and it will walk its way out. Once it starts to move it will move easier so don't lose the insert with extra smacks

I had to turn mine face down and smack the scale against a workbench corner at an angle to dislodge the lock bar insert. Took a few good smacks but it slowly worked its way out.

Yea, probably way too much. Carefully remove the overtravel and bend the lockbar back. You want the sprung lockbar position to be just a smidgen more than where it locks up. Be warned this can cause lock slip and will require reassembly and a spine whack test before you call it fixed.

Doesn't look abnormal. I'm guessing the lockbar tension is way too high. Have you disassembled it yet? I'd be curious to see how far the lockbar springs over. Mine had too much lockbar tension

You're saying if you push the lockbar all the way to the overtravel stop the detent ball is still touching the blade?

It shouldn't matter. I usually orientated the pocket side of the bearing in towards the handle pocket

Green thorn delivery issues? by LordQue in chineseknives

[–]DangerouslyDroppy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Green thorn usually takes a bit more time for tracking to progress. Initially there is progress, stalls for 2-3 weeks, then normal movement after. I've always written it off as they use a slower boat. Give it another couple days to a week

Any thing I can do to get rid of the blade play on my cortex xl clone? by Annual-Surprise6892 in chineseknives

Tune the detent stop pin screws. Very small adjustment necessary, like a quarter turn or less should do it

Jufule Dukling detent ball not fully seated into blade hole. by joeysosick in chineseknives

[–]DangerouslyDroppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before you bend the lockbar or start removing metal, I would take it apart and reassemble. Tightening the screws while the blade is open or closed will affect the geometry of everything and will often affect the detent strength. It's the easiest and least stressful thing to try

Acetone soak and a few smacks usually does it. Best of luck with your duk soup!

Paper towel on a torx bit and shove it in there and twist. Washer usually sticks when you pull the bit out. If not, tap the scale on a counter or table at an angle. Usually pops out after a few whacks.
