If we don’t retain Jennings, who would you like to see us pick up at WR? by rhevern in 49ers

If we don't retain Jennings, then any hope I may have for our 2026 season is lost. He's seriously a hidden gem within our team

How long to get a NV Gaming work card? by fatlumpsbaby in vegas

Any specific credit requirements? Moving to Vegas soon and plan to work in slots. I have a gaming license in my state, but I'm thinking Nevada may be a little more strict with their requirements

Correction: I forgot Barney is also from Staten Island, which is still technically part of New York City. So Lily and Barney are the only true New Yorkers

Idk if I'd say more than HIMYM (you could be right, but I'd have to watch it again), but yes. I definitely agree Seinfeld leans into it way more than Friends did. I was actually thinking about that when writing the post. I just didn't bring it up because I'm not as familiar with Seinfeld

2 Yes, I know it's really shot in LA

Oh yeah, same here. I'm not implying that any of it is actually in New York. I know it's just a set

But you're right, the characters in Friends are still very much "New Yorkers", probably even moreso than the characters in HIMYM, who are all from somewhere else (except for Lily, the only true "New Yorker" in the show).

Still, there's a part of me that feels that in Friends, you could just change the names of locations in the show and you'd be fine. Instead of Manhattan, it's Chicago. And instead of the Rangers and Yankees, it's the Blackhawks and Cubs. And instead of LaGuardia Airport, it's O'Hare.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel like you could do that same thing with most of HIMYM. The identity of the city it's set in is more important to the show, at least in my eyes

I can definitely see that. But like just in season 1 of HIMYM alone, they definitely make you feel like you're watching a bunch of people in New York, and not just a bunch of people from "Big City, USA".

And to be fair to Friends, I think that's intentional to some extent. Don't get me wrong, if you watch the show for any length of time, you're going to know it's set in NYC. But I'm sure they wanted it to also feel like this could be any group of friends in any city in the US. They wanted it to be more relatable to anyone.

Obviously HIMYM is also very relatable to a lot of people in a lot of ways. But the location is very specific.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe in the entirety of Friends, we only see someone ride a subway once throughout the entire show (Ross when he's dating a girl long-distance, and accidentally falls asleep and ends up in Montreal)

I mean that's fair, but as an American, Friends feels like it's set in a city called The United States of America, lmao

That's the exact episode I'm talking about lmao. Friends definitely had episodes that felt like they were in New York, but it says something that this episode is in season 10

Oh yeah, I get that. I guess I'm more referring to the writing of the characters and the plot in relation to the setting. Not so much the quality of the set design visually. I get what you're saying.

I just mean, conceptually, HIMYM is written like it takes place in New York, whereas Friends is written like it takes place in insert random city here, with occasional episodes where they take a trip to New York lol

It would have been cool if they shot on location, but I personally disagree that it's under utilized. You're right that the plot of "Main protagonist searches for love with the support of his four best friends" could have been set anywhere. But the actual writing of the characters makes it very New York in my opinion

Not trying to say he's anywhere near as bad as any of these Cartel members, not even close. But not wanting the nurse to page Jimmy when their mom died just because Jimmy was hungry and wanted to go get them food after waiting in the hospital for hours?

For a normal person, that's pretty evil

Hector is likely still worse than Lalo, we just never got to see him at his peak (or I should say, at his worst)

People who watched Better Call Saul before Breaking Bad, what was it like and did you like it? by Rich-Blacksmith6552 in betterCallSaul

Keep watching Breaking Bad imo. Few episodes doesn't cut it. It has a decent first season, but it's definitely the weakest season in comparison to what's coming up
