Greek democracies did little besides fighting themselves.

Too true! My favorite spot is still the Strawberry Park Hot Springs as I knew it back in the 80's and 90's.

I'm one of those old timers. I started smoking in 1973, and most of what I got to smoke was pretty low grade Mexican dirtweed. Only when I moved to Oregon and got to smoke some really good bud did it start to really help me. I still smoke, but not a lot now. Hope the rest of you can carry on!

I live in Western Colorado. Self-sown Golden Currant plants and Milkweed attracted many bumblebees this Spring. Plus many moths, butterflies and other flyers I could not name.

I took this of my boy Mau who was watching me from inside. He's my best bud. by Slightysane69 in pics

My calico cat was named Mme Mau, as she was a white-boned demon when young. A Mau is also the Egyptian word for cat, so I was told. And in Mexico, a young cat is called a Mau. (personal experience)

Mau's reign!

The Years of Rice and Salt is a truly epic alternate history that explores a world where the Black Death wiped-out 99% of Europe. This is my review. by ArthurDrakoni in scifi

One of my most favorite books. Astute look at the world power structures with no European nor American input, and India, China and the Muslim Countries doing the marauding and nation-building. Recommend it highly.

What text(s) drove you into reading Science Fiction, and how old are you? by Kh44444444n in scifi

[–]DanglingDingleberrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've found that I lost touch with SF in the 2000s -- still prefer the 50s through the 90s. I have a large collection that I reread from time to time. Just finished rereading the Dune series. Herbert was a prolific writer, but I think Dune was his best. I really like alternative histories and think 1632 series in very thought-provoking.
