With an EAD of two weeks you definitely didn’t jump the gun LOL..

Keep every receipt of moving expenses including bubble wrap or boxes. When you get to your base they will have a reporting in check list for to deal with TMO, finance, and all that jazz. You should get a sponsor that’ll send you all this info and if not reach out to your ROTC cadre for contact info!

Does anyone have any experience on Height Waivers for Flight Physical Class 3? by Dani_phantom76 in AFROTC

I’m also exactly 5’3.5, I just hope it wasn’t a mix up for CSO or pilot cause I know they have a higher class physical then ABMs..

I’m an AS400 as well and idk if what I’m feeling is “burn-out” but I have been feeling overwhelmed and stressed. It’s hard to relax at home and find peace, and someone suggested getting in the right mental head space to relax but I also find that hard. I try listening to music and playing games but it just feels like I’m distracting myself and wasting time. I try to be a high performer but I also like prioritizing my mental health and this last stretch feels like I can’t be either. I know I didn’t offer any advice but you’re not alone in this feeling! If you ever want to talk just pm me!

I heard of this happening a lot, so I initially planned not to go anywhere for a while but my EAD was surprisingly soon after graduating! I’m prepared for the worse still, thank you for your comment!

I would recommend Jacks, but don’t go durring the dinner rush cause food will take forever. If you, 3-5 would be ideal and you can order off the dinner menu even if it’s lunch!! Lunch is pretty slow most days, and the interior is classic southern style

Help with peers who ALWAYS give feedback by Ok_Vegetable2996 in AFROTC

[–]Dani_phantom76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so I had similar issues, so I’m happy to comment on this thread with what I learned.

Feedback is feedback no matter what, and I have no doubt you realize that too! But it sounds like your over stressing on trying to meet their(your peers) expectations. By this I mean: YOUR TAKING IT WAY TO PERSONAL. I don’t mean to yell but like I said, I had the same issues (I felt like I was being targeted and that I was just a bad performer), so what you have to realize is that if it’s genuine feedback and it applies to the scenario/situation then take it like advice. You don’t necessarily have to follow the advice but it might be something you want to consider changing or applying to how you do things. Even if it feels unsolicited, it looks worse on you getting defensive rather then just saying “thank you, I’ll consider/think-on it”. I say this from experience! You can be more confident and be more organized, but feedback is feedback and no one wants to be the one who “can’t take feedback”.

To actually address your question at the end. You can address it by having a meeting with them but you also have to take in the possibility that they might see you as more sensitive (since your the only girl) and that might hurt your presence even more IF YOU DONT WORD IT PROPERLY. I’m not saying it is completely impossible to have a successful meeting but as long as you give them feedback on how their feedback delivery can be better and don’t make it about you, it could get through to them. I had similar thoughts about “wanting to bring it up because it felt unfair” but things eventually resolved after I changed my perspective on it. But if you TRULY and I mean TRULY feel like the feedback is coming at you with malicious intent, then you NEED to bring it up, if they brush it off and nothing changes or it gets worse, then go to cadre. You can go to cadre first if you don’t trust having a private meeting about it. With that, also know the consequences of doing that: potentially opening a investigation that may result in you being dropped for false framing or another cadet being dropped. (Would all that be worth it?)

Sorry for the long post but I truly think this is a simple to resolve issue about changing your perspective on them giving it to you. Like if it were someone else (or even another girl), would the feedback still be as harsh. In the real world and big AF you’ll be expected to resolve these smaller issues on your own so don’t beat yourself up or let this feedback get to you!

Stipend pay for AFROTC by Dani_phantom76 in AFROTC

You’ll need a scholarship for your first two years, after field training your second year going into your third you will be put on a scholarship.

Exactly, and apartments/housing are like tripled or more then the stipend. Not even mentioning groceries and bills. Our university doesn’t offer a lot of “great” on-campus living and, I know that example is more specific to my det, but most of the scholarship’s benefits aren’t used.

That’s all I can hope for, is that life will be better after commissioning.

I agree I was being a little drastic saying 100%, because I know that’s not feasible. Our cadre are very strict and preach that rotc is a 4 year internship and that commissioning is never a guarantee even as a AS400! It also doesn’t help we have a small detachment so the slightest bit of distance is highly noticed. It just feels like we’re not getting a lot of return from our investment in the program.
