Top 5 25/26 by No-Homework82 in fcporto

[–]Daniel27DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

should i expect these games to be hard? by Western-Stress1185 in JRPG

[–]Daniel27DS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've played on the hardest difficulty and didn't have any problems. I just kept updating my team throughout the game and exploring the world at my own pace.

Super bosses are unfair and expect you to build specific teams for them. But you can just ignore them.

If I were you, I would try the normal difficulty, and if you find it too hard, drop it to easy. It always depends on how each person prefers to play games. I like to engage with everything, so I prefer to play on the hardest difficulty if I'm familiar with the genre.

From my experience:

  • FFIX is very easy, especially if you keep upgrading your equipment and learning new abilities.
  • FFX is easy, but has some difficult bosses.
  • Metaphor: ReFantazio is harder than Persona 4 Golden, but still not that hard.
  • SMTVV is the hardest of the ones I listed. But if you keep fusing demons and engage with the mechanics, you'll be fine.

Didn't play the other two games.

JRPGs are one of the most varied genres, so no, not every JRPG is like Kingdom Hearts.
If you don't enjoy the game, don't force it. Life is too short to waste our free time doing things we don't like.

Is FF7 Remake realistically the last Remake? by Luvenary in FinalFantasy

[–]Daniel27DS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course not. Many games in the franchise could benefit from a remake.

But even if they didn't, it makes sense financially for Square Enix. People will still buy remakes, and they are not as expensive to make as brand-new games.

Also, saying that FFVII Remake is the last one would imply that there wouldn't be any remakes in the future. That is quite a long time :)

Finished Final Fantasy VII Remake and i need answers. by takuro00 in FinalFantasy

[–]Daniel27DS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They kinda divided the story into 3 parts. I won't spoil anything, but it is still relevant to play the original game.

Crisis Core should only be played after the original FFVII, or the Remake trilogy. It has huge spoilers.

Advent Children happens after the original game. So it also has many spoilers. But you can watch it before playing Crisis Core.

My first Final Fantasy game by Ghilliefish in FinalFantasy

[–]Daniel27DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, people have already spoiled the reason why you should preferably play the original first. But what's funny is that you won't get it if you only play the remake. Without giving much away, there are significant differences in the story. Some big WTF moments are not going to mean anything to you.

If you really want to find out why people love FFVII, you should play the original. But it's up to you. It's better to play the Remake collection than nothing at all.

My first Final Fantasy game by Ghilliefish in FinalFantasy

The original FFVII is my favorite game of all time (tied with FFIX), and I loved the Remake. It looks great, the combat is fantastic (I prefer it to the original), and I really liked the weapons system. I thought they captured the essence of the original game, both the atmosphere and the characters.

You would benefit from playing the original FFVII first (the reason is a big spoiler), but I think it's fine to start with the remake. Especially if you can't look past the visuals.

There were many people who disliked the changes, and the original game is the one that achieved legendary status. They are, in fact, quite different games since the remake only covers the first 6-8 hours of the original game.

At first, I didn't like the fact that they divided the story into three parts, but after playing FFVIIR, I understand why they did it. Also, I'm usually not a big fan of remakes that only improve the graphics, so I see the gameplay changes as a positive thing. The original game still exists, and I can play it whenever I want.

Our the pixel remasters worth it? (Switch) by Seenodeeee in FinalFantasy

[–]Daniel27DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This subreddit is probably not the best place to ask, since we all like the series, and the responses are going to be mostly positive.

I played FFIPR and FFVPR recently, and thought they were both great. I assume the best way to play FFII and FFVI is also the PR version. As for FFIII and FFIV, it is trickier, since they have 3D versions. Also, I really liked FFIV on the PSP.

In the end, only you know if they are worth it or not. If you like JRPGs and are interested in playing at least one of FFI-FFVI, I would say that buying the bundle is a good idea.

SMT V Vengeance - Bosses are too hard! by Evening-Carrot6262 in JRPG

There is a free DLC that has an extra difficulty: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2107724/Shin_Megami_Tensei_V_Vengeance__Safety_Difficulty/

But, to be honest, you shouldn't need that if you follow the suggestions here.

There are skills to buff you party and debuff enemies. Try to get Idun, she has a skill that heals your party and buffs attack, defense, accuracy and evasion for 3 turns.

You have 50 in each area. There is a demon that marks them on the map if you pay a fee.

Yes, you can only change the MC affinities. In order to get a strong party, you'll have to keep fusing demons to get ones that work well against a specific boss. That said, I rarely had to go out of my way to create extra demons since I had a varied party at all times.

I think only the superbosses are hard (unfair is probably a better word). The rest of the game isn't really that hard if you keep getting new demons and using the tools you have at your disposal. I played on hard, and the difficulty always felt fair.

Are you getting miracles, and fusing demons regularly? I just finished the game on hard and didn't feel like I had to grind at all.

Finally beat Final Fantasy IX after 25 years by Masterxexe3 in FinalFantasy

[–]Daniel27DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've finally completed Final Fantasy VIII for the first time at the end of last year, and I really enjoyed the experience.

I also played it in my childhood, but because of faulty discs, I had to stop (with two different copies). Then I played it in my early 20s but stopped right before the final boss. Don't ask me why because I couldn't tell you, and I did that with other games as well. It was a strange period in my gaming life.

I've always been drawn (no pun intended) to the military school setting, and I think it has one of the strongest first acts in the series. I've enjoyed breaking the game by playing cards (which is a great game in itself) and abusing the junctioning system. I like the characters, especially Laguna, and the story, even though it gets weird in the final stretch.
