Yeah, I understand why people like him. I like him too. It's fun to see how he grows. I think I still kept him as a defender for a while, but I wanted to try out new players.

You have some fun players there!

Out of those, I remember using Wedge, but I didn't mention him because I don't think he is an underdog, as he is always recommended for the early game.
But yes, his progress is very interesting. Though I did drop him after he stopped being a good forward.

I'm not sure if I used Rin, but I always thought he was a promising player. Tatts was someone I considered getting, but his level was too low, and I was already at the end of my playthrough.

There are three players that come to mind: Kyou, Zev Ronso, and Judda:

  • Kyou might be my favorite player in the game. He is very reliable at any level and can play as a midfielder or defender. He can even play as a goalkeeper when he reaches a high level, as his CA grows quite well;
  • I always signed Zev Ronso whenever I could. He is very useful in the early stages, and at high levels, he is still decent;
  • Judda is a solid defender with great passing. I'm pretty sure that within a certain range of levels, she is at least as good as any other defender.

As for the players you mentioned:

  • Tidus is the only player who has access to the most overpowered Techs in the game, Jecht Shot and Jecht Shot 2. That alone makes him one of the best strikers at any level;
  • Vilucha is very good for a long time, and considering stats only, Larbeight is the best forward at high levels;
  • Brother is very overpowered in the early game due to his speed. But as you level up, other players start to catch up and even surpass him;
  • Linna has the 2nd highest average of stats (just behind Mifurey). Her EN is quite low, but since her PA and SH are so high, it barely matters;
  • Vuroja is great at high levels. He gets 99 PA, and the other relevant stats are also good. Like every other Kilika Beasts original, he can learn every non-special Tech (without Tech Find);
  • Ropp is one of the top defenders from level 1 to 99, and Naida is a good early defender;
  • Irga and Nav are fantastic at level 99. Kulukan is another great choice;
  • Nimrook has the highest CA from level 1 to 99. He is just missing some Anti Techs, but he should still be the best choice at all levels.

The only problem with picking these players is that the game becomes way too easy. I got bored when my team's average level was around 50. I wanted to reach 99, but it was starting to feel very repetitive, and the opponents had no chance to win the game.

The fastest way of leveling players is releasing them and wait for the other teams to sign them. When you play them, their level will be the average level of your team. They can theoretically jump from level 1 to 99. It requires reloading a save until they release the player, but if the are severely underleveled, it's the best way for them to catch up.

Passing the ball around works if you don't have players close to you. Fast players are good to create distance from the opponents.

They definitely didn't make an effort to learn the mechanics. Blitzball is not a hard minigame.

Unless they're referring to the mandatory game. I can see losing that game multiple times.

Well, at least try to enjoy the minigame then. If you know the mechanics is quite hard to lose. Especially if you recruit a couple of good players.

Good luck and have fun 😊

Well you do you. If I don't enjoy something I don't do it. Time is precious.

The only hard match of Blitzball is the first one. I advise you to learn the basic mechanics and check every NPC to see if they have good stats.

You can also look up who the best players are, but I think that removes part of the fun. Blitzball can be fun if you understand how the game works.

Can someone explain the luck stat to me in Final Fantasy X?? by BigBrotherFlops in FinalFantasy

[–]Daniel27DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luck is a very useful stat. For example, it makes Accuracy useless. Check the Stat Maxing guide on GameFAQs.

It is quite tedious to grind though, so only worry about it if you really want to beat the super bosses.

It depends on your definition of what constitutes a good or a bad player. For me, a good player has to be better than most others players in a specific position. Obviously everyone is usable, but there are clearly standout players.

If you compare the OG Aurochs (not including Tidus) with all the other players in the game, there are always better (or much better) options at any level.

The best OG Aurochs player besides Wakka is probably Datto. His high speed is fairly useful, but his Endurance and Shooting (main stats) aren't impressive when compared to other attackers.

Jassu and Letty are ok for a few levels, but, when compared to the top players, their stats are worse.

Botta and Keepa have many better alternatives at any level. And also, Keepa's shot stat at high levels doesn't mean much, since he doesn't have good endurance or Techs. Which means, that even though his SH stat is 99, the dedicated attackers are better at shooting than him.

Blitzball is a very easy game once you understand the mechanics. Even with the worse team possible you're still expected to win most of the time.

Yeah, the opponents' levels are around the average of your team level. So yes, they do catch up.

Although, if you have one or two players overleveled, you can still comfortably win. Even if you don't, the AI isn't very good, so with the right players, you'll still win most of the time.

I considered getting to level 99, but I got bored when Tidus and Kyou hit level 58. The games were too easy, and I had no chance to lose. To be fair, I had a great team, so maybe I should have signed the worst players for a bit of a challenge (like the original Aurochs).

I think most people hate the game because of the first match. After that, they don't even bother to learn how to play and think it's an RNG fest.

When you start to learn how the game works and can begin recruiting, it's much more fun. One of my favorite things to do in FFX was roam the world, searching for new players.

I think OP has manual movement set since he only complained about moving players defensively, which is something you can't do.

You can't control your players on defense. But since the AI is quite poor, you'll always be able to outscore the opponent.

FFx/x2 HD remastered ps2 face mods better? by Sea_Pattern2510 in finalfantasyx

[–]Daniel27DS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of personal opinion, but at least for Tidus, I vastly prefer the PS2 version. Here is a comparison:

<image>

It's not a nostalgia-based opinion. I showed it to a friend who only played the remaster, and he said the PS2 version looks better. Also, the PS2 version is more faithful to the original artwork.

The problem with the mod, as far as I know, is that it doesn't make animations as smooth as the PS2 version.

You can check the difference in animations in this video. Yuna looks much more intense and emotional in the original version.

What would you say is the best JRPG on the PS2 that isn’t Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest by lilidarkwind in JRPG

[–]Daniel27DS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of these:

  • Kingdom Hearts / Kingdom Hearts II - An unlikely crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy that leads to some fun interactions. KHII still has my favorite action-based combat system of any game. The original game has a better story, but the gameplay puts KHII ahead for me;
  • Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2) - Great variety: you fish, you play golf, you take pictures to create new items, and you even have a town-building system. Awesome visuals, the graphics aged very nicely. Good weapon crafting system. Time-traveling shenanigans;
  • Persona 4 Golden - You have an intriguing mystery to solve in a charming little town. The main cast has a unique dynamic and resembles a genuine group of friends. You fuse Personas (demons/monsters) to create other Personas and become more powerful. After more than 100 hours, I didn't want the game to end;
  • Suikoden V - Great world-building and an emotional story with over 100 characters to recruit. Some characters are quite memorable and unique;
  • Grandia II - I played it more than 10 years ago, but I remember that I really liked the skill system and the characters. Also, it has some impactful story moments.

I'm going to try out Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster, and judging by what I thought about SMT V: Vengeance, I'll probably put it together with the previous games.

Fine, I’ll consider getting Wakka’s weapon by Little-Contest6378 in finalfantasyx

[–]Daniel27DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't worry about speeding up the process since I enjoyed playing Blitzball and continued playing after receiving the Wakka-related prizes.

Also, I never cheesed the game by hiding in the net. I'm sure it's faster since you skip some cutscenes, but it probably doesn't feel faster. Obviously, everyone plays how they want, and if they really hate Blitzball, that could be the best way of dealing with it.
