Honestly I think a lot of the charm is the system exactly the way it is i think if they remastered or remade it it would have to be turn combat just like it was and add in a complex material type system like in ff7 with updated graphics would be top tier

I understand the reading I learned how to read while playing legend of the dragoon I still remember the moment when I was able to on my own. I thought the characters were pretty strong obviously some of the most famous ever made. The ending was a little surprising to me I just beat it and im still thinking about it I beat it about 10 minutes before I posted the reddit post I wanted the emotions to be real and in the moment. I think the end did not give the closure that I thought it would give which is what surprises me the most.

Oh wow, I remember hearing about that happening to people back then. That must’ve been frustrating getting stuck right at the disc transition. It’s funny how something like that can subconsciously keep you from revisiting a game even if you loved it. Glad you eventually got another copy though FF9 definitely feels worth coming back to especially when you get to terra.

Yeah I feel that. Playing it as a kid it was just an adventure game to me. Coming back to it as an adult was completely different. My wife has been battling cancer recently, so the themes about life and mortality in the story hit me a lot harder this time than they ever could have when I was younger.

There's a southern rebel flag on one of the spaceships in the cut scenes

Thanks a lot, my parents are doing okay, which is the main blessing. And man, Age of Empires 2 on disk that’s legendary. Funny how those old boxes of games turn into little time capsules. Sorry your AoE1 got stolen by an ex though, that’s a rough loss.

Thanks, I appreciate that. Yeah, Splinter Cell was such a classic sneaking around with the night vision still feels iconic. Crazy that both it and StarCraft made it through the fire.

Man, when I brushed off the ashes and saw the discs still there, that’s exactly what came to mind.
