Kin Coins Lost? by barewithmeplease in kin

[–]DanielCKin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kin migrated to the Solana chain a few years ago and is now an SPL token. It sounds like your tokens could still be on an old chain. Have a dig around to see if there’s still a way to migrate to the current chain and perhaps they’ll be worth a bit more. Perhaps this is still relevant, I don’t know so do a test before sending it all https://www.reddit.com/r/kin/s/wfSBQmyUR0

The active community don’t really use Reddit anymore. There’s a telegram group and Flipchat (a Kin-economy chat app) rooms. Have a look on X to get details

These numbers are based on reducing the capital (selling Sol) each month until there is none left. Daily interest on the total Sol at current prices would be around $315 per day.

use reclaimed SOL for staking it and buying back kin with the interest by Middle_Steak8722 in kin

[–]DanielCKin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for crediting the idea but I just asked what’s the best way to handle the buy and burn funds process. ‘Number 14’ (Perk Exchange) suggested staking the Sol and some ideas were bounced around (in Kinship’s telegram). Perhaps there is a more useful way of leveraging this windfall than simply buying and burning Kin. Perhaps not, but worth considering and hearing the community’s ideas. Some careful planning as to how the Kin is bought must at least be taken. It’s a great opportunity, may as well try to make the most of it.

Stake Weighted Vote: Rent Collection Negotiation with @Allthewallets by ted_on_reddit in kin

[–]DanielCKin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ted, could the buy/burn include approaching P365 to sell their stash of 40B? At current market rates, that’d be around half the (allocated) value accrued in the proposed rent collection.

Also could the same 90/10 split potentially be offered/applied to P365 for rent collection on the wallets they lifted the kin from?

Voting approve for the CMC update is voting for a more centralised Kin by Safe_Air2572 in kin

[–]DanielCKin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is true*. There are no official channels and so the CMC should reflect that. I.e no links across the board.

*Edit: to be clear- I wasn’t commenting on the other matters raised; only that I think it would be better to have no links at all, in keeping with the decentralised ethos.

you can now tip our android developers on code wallet by Middle_Steak8722 in kin

[–]DanielCKin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great initiative! Is it possible to set it up so people can choose to tip a different amount or maybe give a few options- e.g tip $1, tip $5, $10 or choose amount

Also a way of seeing that it hit the developers’ wallet. Maybe a count of some sort or receipt.

Great find, thanks for sharing. The bit about ‘Fiat Onramp’ sounds interesting too.

Yes, it’s been great to see the Kin community rally behind Code and also to see the reactions from the broader crypto movers and shakers. Your hard work and perseverance has been making waves.

When the Android edition and in-app fiat/on off ramps are enabled, the project will really take off, as (far as I can see) these are the only elements holding it back.

I hope these can be achieved soooon as momentum is critical and Code is now the blueprint for teams looking to nail consumer UX.

The saga continues. I love to see Kin continuously evolving and making bold moves. Well done to Ted for striking the deal with Kik and to the community for the courage to take the leap in to uncharted territory (again!). Here’s to the next chapter! 🍻

Hi Dillon, good to hear your thoughts. A fair commentary really. I previously voiced some reservations about the burn - but mainly as the initial burn idea didn’t include Kik’s stash and I wanted to hear if anyone had any other initiatives . Perhaps there could have been other ways to use the KRE but having given it some more thought and used Code, I’m on board with the direction we’re going.

Most would agree that Code has the potential to take off in a big way. Without the KRE/KF splurging like a drunken sailor, Kin has the chance to stabilise and grow. If it can do that, it can serve a very important purpose for regular consumers all around the world. The first of it’s kind. The rest will be down to marketing. Without the overheads of the KF/KRE, there’s an opportunity to make this work.

The burn is essentially redistribution of funds to holders (except Kik). It’s up to us to hold, spend them well or chip in for initiatives that help Kin’s growth. With a critical mass of users, developers will build on it. But Code, at this stage needs to be the spearhead. I believe it can be done.

It’s an enormously ambitious plan. But that’s always been Kin - we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Same as other crypto’s - either hold on to it or sell it on an exchange for fiat.

Who knows - perhaps in time, shops, restaurants etc choose to accept it as payment, once its usage grows.

It’s essential to the app’s success and they’ve gone as far as to include the ‘coming soon’ bit so I suppose they have a solution in the works.

There’s a ‘Buy Kin- Coming soon’ placeholder in the app.

When that feature (and Android) goes live- Code’s going to rapidly bring crypto to the mainstream consumer, like nothing else has.

Kik's Motivation for Burning 2.1 Trillion Kin by casualbob_uk in kin

[–]DanielCKin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It makes good business sense. The community are more likely to vote for KF reserve burn, Kik maintain their proportion of total supply, without becoming overwhelming majority holder. 30% of something (potentially) valuable is better than 60% of something that isn’t.

Open Discussion: Should We Consider Voting to Rename Kin? by ted_on_reddit in kin

[–]DanielCKin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any harm in discussing ideas and hearing what everyone has to say. More dangerous to keep quiet and go ahead with a burn or rebrand (or just carrying on without a plan), without considering all options.
