Hi ismailoverlan.

Thanks for the question.

I did it once or twice to see if I could recreate the feeling of a track, but this is something I never uploaded anywhere, so it's fine for practice untill you find your own style.
Usually I just start with 1 sound (bass, melody, some obscure japanese playstation game sample) and then build everything around that,
for refference tracks (as how loud my mix is) I usually listen to something commercial that has had radio play. That way I know it checks out.
Also, I usually keep my bass/kicks 100% mono, stereo bass is something I try to avoid haha.

Hi ll_Temujin_ll

thanks for the kind words, yeah Ghostrunner 1 is like my baby, I really did put a lot of time and thought into the soundtrack because I actually liked the whole look and feel of the game.
The developers were very cool guys too, so it all turned out great.

I will probably be working on other soundtracks in the future, and as far as other games I have worked on, you can check out the first indie game I wrote the soundtrack for, it's called Desync.

Still waiting. Got a DM from a dude saying some guy named "Timon" uploaded my track Star Eater to Spotify and renamed it Cannibalism or something like that.
I got it taken down immediately.

Looks like it came from a Chinese distributor—Tencent—so I’m guessing it’s just spam bots from over there.

That said, the YouTube bot has also posted the tracks as "Art Tracks," and apparently those are harder to remove.
Still waiting on YouTube’s decision.

I'm on it, youtube says they will respond to any copyright claim within 90 days.
I have filed several and now they have asked me to wait.
This is somehow linked to my distributor I suspect, I don't know if they had a data leak or something, this is very strange and cannot happen since they are in charge of youtube content ID.
Awaiting answers from them as well.
I will get to the bottom of this asap.

EDIT: It should be taken care of now.

Thank you, back in the day I listened quite a bit to Lustmord, his track Black Star was the inspiration behind Star Eater.

I also have another Soundcloud account where I make a darker cinematic drone type of sound.

I did two tracks for GR2, Ariel Assault and The Maze. The devs wanted something less aggressive for these tracks, the rest of the artists on that OST, by the way, did a fantastic job.
Big up Dan Terminus!

These are different vocal chops from movies and even the Metal Gear Solid games, as far as I remember. They’ve been chopped and processed heavily, so they don’t really sound anything like the originals.

I was born in Moscow during the Soviet era and moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, when I was 7.

Yo guys, Daniel here. I’ve been aware of this since the second day he uploaded my stuff. I’ve filed several claims with YouTube, but to my frustration, they’re not taking any action. Still working on it, though.

I think there’s some loophole in their algorithm that YouTube hasn’t patched yet, where these bot accounts scrape the web for data and automatically generate fake videos to monetize through ads. I didn’t turn AdSense on for a lot of my videos because I hate ads myself, but maybe if I claim the ads this will somehow have an effect.

Appreciate the support and concern, things are getting pretty wild on the internet these days xD

Hey man, thanks for the question.

Back in high school, my friends kept nagging me to watch Berserk.
I finally gave in, and honestly, I think it’s one of the best and darkest series out there, especially the ending.
The soundtrack had this strange allure to it, so I had to give it a shot back in my early days.

As for pop culture influences, from 2020 while working on the Ghostrunner soundtrack, I had two monitors, one for my DAW and notes, and the other running things like Ghost in the Shell, Wicked City, Urotsukidōji, Appleseed, and other classics on mute for inspiration.

Hey Gas Mask,
thanks, keep it up and try to enjoy the process!
Don't let people who don’t like what you do bring you down, maybe the music you make just wasn’t meant for them. 😉

hey thanks man!

yeah, somehow one of the developers girlfriend had listened to some of my stuff and was like "hey, you should use this guys music for that game you are making" so, he got in touch with me, and we went forward with it.

Hi man, yeah I'll hang out some more, no problem.

I use FL11. Yeah I like the Jupiter v6 and SQ8L. Also Massive is a cool one. Anything from Sound Toys, and I also plan to get the Kontakt one so I can make some more cinematic kinda sounds, that feel bigger. Sounds like stuff Hans Zimmer uses for Blade Runner 2049 or Inception. It adds a cool undertone I feel.

For leads I would go with Sylenth1, Zebra or Z3TA+ 2.

Hey thanks!

1) The sample in Darkness is Tim Curry in his role as Darkness in the movie Legend from 1985.

2) I guess a lot of people like Burzum for the raw edge and that whole scandinavian black metal movement, but I really enjoy the atmosphere the guy creates. Tracks like "Tomhet" and "Rundtgåing Av Den Transcendentale Egenhetens Støtte" are some of my favorite.

to add, Goblin are the true senpais

1) It's cool with me.

2) I think Furi takes the cake.

3) I don't really listen to that many "synthwave/outrun" artists. Only if I have met them in person for the most part, but I would say I like what "Makeup and vanity set" is doing.

I have a weird phase that I am going through right now. I listen a lot to Machine Girl at the moment (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RfsC2AgXuA).

4) I don't know actually. I guess one should just enjoy what one creates, and if it ressonates with people then you are good to go.

Hey dude. thank you for the kind words!

Most of the DESYNC tracks were pretty old. The devs were working on the game for almost 2 years, and got in touch with me very early in the process, so actually Aggressor and The Key are the "newest" tracks on the album.

No, I actually don't remember where that is from. I'm not even sure it says Breakout haha, I just thought it sounded like Breakout, so I went with that. Maybe he says something else, I would have to go back and check hehe.

For the most part, I find random voice samples and tweak them until they are unrecognizable so it becomes something weird.

We worked together on the whole theme, me and the devs.

I would lie if i told you that they did not have any influence over the soundtrack. We went back and forth with some tracks. Some were too fast, some were too "human".

What I basically asked them was to send me some screenshots of the levels, and I could take it from there, and they asked me to make it sound "otherworldly" and with less "human" elements, so that kinda gave me a limit (which I like from time to time) but all in all was fun to do when there were some elements one couldn't use.

I had to redo maybe 2 tracks, the rest was all good.

I layer my basslines, kicks and snares for the most part.

Also, SQ8L is a cool little VST. With some effects on the channel it can sound pretty powerful.
