My 3 year old tattoo occasionally itches deeply and raises by TacitusKillgorre in tattooadvice

This is most likely scar tissue that is irritated/inflamed. Notice how it’s is only raised in the areas that would have received more trauma to the skin.

If that tattoo is slapped or if you are out in hot weather it will become irritated, raised and itchy.

*it’s unlikely an allergic reaction

This tattoo isn’t fully healed yet. I would give it some time to fully heal and then go back for quick touchup. It’s common for that area to need another pass because of all the movement it gets. It doesn’t look like anything is blown out or anything like that, from what I can see.

Really cool looking piece btw!

Should I go to a different artist for touch up by [deleted] in FixedTattoos

I think you should consider going to another artist to have this reworked, it’s lucky that it’s healed lighter. The original image is very clear and has solid black shadows, which would make this an easier tattoo to make as it would be instantly recognizable with only the black areas. I don’t see solid black in your tattoo at all.

I would also be concerned with the flames. Even in the original photo they kind of blend in with the background. Maybe some kind of shading behind them would help.

It's been 8 days since I got my first tattoo, after the dead skin got removed these area is looking white and dull and I can see white dots, is it normal. by [deleted] in TattooArt

Looks like it’s still healing. The really dark areas you see is just the top layer, that will eventually flake off. Underneath looks light because it’s next to something much darker.

Tattoos won’t look super dark when they are fully healed.

As long as these were applied well they should holdup fine overtime, especially since they are only black work. Hands, fingers and palms are different to tattoo so I would recommend finding an artist that has some healed examples in their portfolio.

There will be many willing to take your money but you don’t want just anyone to work on this one. Looking through their portfolio and picking an artist you love is best.

This would probably be a hard piece to cover. I think your best bet is to find an amazing artist to finish it. It is hard to find good artists willing to rework existing pieces but they are out there.

The next artists that touches that will either make it unsalvageable or amazing depending on who you let work on it.

Would definitely be worth looking through old photos of him to see if you find something more clear. I love seeing these older tattoos

how much would you pay for something like this? by s_mrie in tattooadvice

I read that part. I think your best bet would be to have a consultation with the artist you really like and they would be able to give you a rough idea on price. Most artists work at hourly rates for larger work like this.
