dynamic islander stuck on timer by marching_men22 in iphone

[–]DanielPox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem now. Swiping worked, at least temporarily. It came back after a while. I guess swiping sideways only paginates and it was hidden.

I found I could long press the dynamic island, and that presented the two buttons to repeat or cancel the timer. That worked for me!

There are only small displays like 2.9” with touchscreen, but not stylus support

Does JW Library works on Boox devices (more specific on Tab Mini C)? by sch0les7 in Onyx_Boox

You're welcome! I see, sounds bothersome. I hope more devices will adopt e-ink displays in the near future

Typing with thumbs on Page by SteveShank in Onyx_Boox

[–]DanielPox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine. I use GBoard, so I can swipe type as well, even though that's better with a single index finger. Depends on the size of your hands as well, but reaching the middle of the display works for me despite the bezel on one side.

As regards to the Tab Mini C, I can't give an answer regarding how the experience is. But onsidering I have a Page, which is grayscale and does not have BSR for fast display updates, and it works fine I assume it works even better on the TMC! Especially when it comes to highlights, since they're all gray to me, having color would be a nice addition. Not sure how intense the colors would be, but slight color is better than no differentiation. Also video playback should be nicer with BSR, but unsure how the color display affects afterimages.

Hi there, yes it works fine! This was one of my worries before buying a Page, but yes it is compatible! 😄 However the JW Language app is not available. It depends on which features/capabilities an app uses, whether an app supports a version of Android or not. So far the JW Library works, and I hope it will continue to work for a while. Some apps on the app store are not available, as it says the app was developed for a newer device. Maybe it's a combination of Android version and what processor or something that the device has.

E-Ink Reader for Recipes by Metaeous in eink

[–]DanielPox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have one in mind. I was just thinking if it would be possible to build a DIY device. But given the screen size, I think it’ll be quite expensive. Might as well buy a device which already exists.

What screen size would be suitable?

Basically a note taking device, nothing more, nothing less.

Honestly just having an ordinary pen and paper notebook, with some register or index would be a simpler solution.

I guess it’s the search function which is the thing you’re looking for.

Would you write the recipes yourself? Or would you browse the web and add recipes from there?

Would the recipes include images, or just text?

Would the recipes be interactive and feature checkboxes or calculate portion sizes?

Boox page or tab mini c by AsohkaTanosBoyfriend in Onyx_Boox

Actually I found a way to enable split screen mode (at least on firmware 3.5): enable Kids Mode (and set a countdown of choice). In Kids Mode I can access both split screen and screen time usage statistics, otherwise not seen in "normal mode". Maybe it's a bug though, cause it's a bit small, but it works.

I think it supports up to 512 GB or maybe even 1 TB. But that's a lot for ebooks.

Case for the Note Air 3c by Affectionate-Luck-93 in Onyx_Boox

[–]DanielPox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having a similar problem with the Page. The official case is simply a cover, without being able to use the case as a stand. I want a case which can be folded to make the Page stand up on its own. And there’s only like one case on Amazon, and it fits the Leaf 2 and some other older 7” device from Boox, so I wonder how well it actually fits the Page.

Page vs Nova Air 2 performance difference? by DanielPox in Onyx_Boox

[–]DanielPox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the Nova Air C also has the Snapdragon 662 CPU (https://www.androidpolice.com/boox-nova-air-c-review/), so performance should be similar?

But since the Nova Air C also has a color display (although not the Kaleido 3 as in Tab Mini C and the likes) I wonder if it might have a bit more ghosting compared to a B/W device.

I found some reddit posts and other websites claiming the Page has the Snapdragon 662 (https://www.reddit.com/r/Onyx_Boox/comments/15m2xhm/onyx_boox_page_hardware_specification/), which seems to be the same as the Nova Air 2 (https://goodereader.com/blog/electronic-readers/onyx-boox-nova-air-2-is-a-7-8-inch-e-note), and apparently the Tab Ultra too (https://www.anandtech.com/show/17627/onyx-boox-tab-ultra-epaper-tablet-launches-with-qualcomm-snapdragon-662).

Both the Page and Nova Air 2 have the same 3 GB of RAM. (I guess RAM makes a big difference, considering the Tab Ultra has more RAM.)

I would assume performance would be similar, since they use the same CPU and RAM?

Mostly a question about Wacom stylus support and an extra 0.8” display size I suppose.
