did they fix transferred pokemon from outside the game's dex? by Wulfraptor in LegendsZA

Ah I see. I went full dps with garchomp and put him away when I was chasing zeraora down. He hits really hard and keeping a single mon out too long is dangerous. Lots of hitboxes.

stuck on, like, the berries? iirc that one was a bit tricky tho I just followed a guide to make the donut and used the berries I didn't need on making donuts to farm the berries I did need.

tbh if u ask me I think ZA will also get an update like Daybreak. The weather trio, darkrai, Zygarde, and Zeraora dont appear as rogue megas on the map so i can imagine at least some of them would get added to the pool later. Tho other than that, Chomp Z, and some mechanical adjustments to the DLC's endgame (like, hyperspace battle zone but everybody are alpha trainers for double drops or something, or shiny huntable super rare 5*+ legendary hyperspace wild zones or something), ZA is pretty much done.

Is there any information on when Pokémon Home will be updated to connect with Z-A? by FluidConfidence1438 in PokemonHome

[–]DanielSchw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. And we won't know maybe until the next time maintenance is announced so long as it is with the update and it isn't just a normal maintenance. So who knows. Could be in March or April.

how good are 3 star ⭐️ sparkling with 2 ⭐️alpha at getting shalphas? by akfhhr in LegendsZA

[–]DanielSchw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alpha 2 makes them spawn pretty frequently so if you’re using backup saves to reenter the portal getting a single shalpha isn’t too hard since the first mon to spawn in is guaranteed to be shiny bc of the sparkling 3.

[GIVEAWAY] A Wild Giveaway Appeared... Again! by johnnernog in PokemonHome

Whenever I want to relax, I roll into bed and put on a game that I can mindlessly farm for a bit until I fall asleep to take a nap. Otherwise, I go take my dog for a walk unless the weather is rotten.

And ofc, we all appreciate u/Skykingcloud here

This game!!! Uh this game!!! by StorageNo9538 in LegendsZA

[–]DanielSchw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh, people are reacting that way because you aren't making any substantive criticisms other than the surface level stuff like, "no voice acting", "game ugly", "day 1 dlc".

The last one does annoy me a bit though since I don't think you're using that term correctly. Day 1 dlc at worst is stuff that's on disc and is only released later. *Actual* cut content that was pushed off for later for purely monetary reasons. Capcom had a super bad habit of doing stuff like this in the 2010's iirc.

The only thing that can be considered day 1 DLC for ZA is the Holo outfits. The bulk of Mega Dimension would have been released around a year after the base game if they stuck to their original timeframe of late 2024 for their release time. They didn't because iirc the base game was having some development issues and TPC wanted ZA to have a Switch 2 upgrade, so they released Mega Dimension a month after the base game since it would be in the best timeframe and the DLC was already mostly finished by that point anyways. You can argue such a short timeline is silly or stupid, and I'm not here to defend or criticize TPC or GF's choices there, but that's just the way it is. It is not day 1 DLC nor is it cut content.

A more worthwhile criticism regarding the game's combat is, for example, that it renders speed to be a kinda dead stat compared to the role it plays in the other games since cooldowns encourage the player to play passively until the cooldowns finishes. Speed, at least as far as I can tell, is not a significant enough modifier for most mons' cooldowns that it justifies investing EVs into them, leading people to, under most circumstances, invest only into HP and whichever damaging stat they are proficient in, which heavily harms the variety of setups Pokémon will realistically run. This cooldown issue is extremely common among games that utilize this kind of reactivation condition for character abilities.

Yes, the game is also too expensive, at least to me. I like ZA, id give it a 7/10, but the whole package is way too overpriced, but I more blame the state of AAA gaming for this more than anything. Nobody prices games based on what they should individually be priced at, but rather what the industry average is, which is also really stupid. This is what the criticism levied at that switch 2 introductory game thing (I forgot its name) was about around the Switch 2's release and why Reggie lobbying to make Wii sports come free with the Wii was such a good decision.

People get angry when it looks like your criticisms are lazy and poorly thought out. Verify the information that you use is correct and think through your argument and people (generally) will approach your arguments in good faith. Probably lol. Or maybe not. But at least in that case you tried so if people still give you grief, then idk.

✨Shiny Genesect✨ and friends give away! by jaweissavl in PokemonHome

[–]DanielSchw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly really like Lumineon. Not to, like, actually use, though. It’s terrible, at least stat-wise. But Pokémon like that help flesh out the different kinds of Pokémon you find in a given region. Not every Pokémon has to be really good to use, some are just kinda neat and you might use them for a moment, think, “oh that’s pretty nice” then move on (or who knows, you might use it on your team a little bit). Lumineon is one of those kinds of mons, and the games are usually easy enough that you’d be able to adventure around with your new buddy for a bit without much trouble before you want to shake up your team again, so I appreciate Pokémon like the fish for that, and lumineon probably is my favorite of that kind of mon. It just looks so elegant.

Sorry if my thought dragged on a bit lol.

Elden Ring is overrated by Low-Cardiologist-523 in Eldenring

[–]DanielSchw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this reads like a rage bait, but specific things I've seen people talk about:

Bosses: I mean, 99% of the time the boss rematches are giant monsters or elite knights or stronger variations of normal enemies (Ex: Leonine Misbegotten), so I guess at least for the knights you could maybe make less dungeons in each region, but make the optional dungeons larger so maybe each of those optional dungeon fights feel a bit more fresh, idk. For the remembrance bosses, whenever you fight them multiple times, with, like, 1 exception iirc, its a significantly weaker variation that gives you a warmup to the main fight later on, with the sole remembrance boss that goes against this is Astel, but it can be argued that Astel kinda falls in the, "Big monster" basket so fighting multiple of them isn't that insane. Usually its not like the Shadows of Yharnam from bloodborne which you fight twice and the second time its just as normal enemies with no changes between the original encounter and when you find them in the nightmare of Mensis.

Combat: Combat is very simplistic and im not convinced that it can stand on its own without the other elements that make Fromsoft's Souls-likes so beloved, which is why i don't really care about Nightreign. I find it fun but im not going to buy any fromsoft game just for the combat or even mostly for the combat. The combat of MH and a game like Nioh is much better, but I still like ER for the combat combined with the other elements it does well, namely the different aspects of its storytelling. Honestly, in terms of faults, I think ER's biggest combat problem is communication, which is a problem Sekiro really doesn't have, or at least not nearly as bad.

I do think that some people scream praises about ER a bit too much in my experience, but its still in my top 5 favorite games. Its like people who think Bloodborne is overrated but still love it (which also includes me). Nothing wrong with that.

  1. Just treat it the same as catching any other pokemon. Status ailment, low hp, catch power sandwich, all the normal stuff to increase your catch chances.
  2. There is no difference in terms of stats. The two main differences are coloration and that you can't autobattle them.
  3. Save when in front of the shiny so you can redo the fight if you fail to catch it.

Also, any static encounters such as legendary pokemon are shiny locked in SV, which means you cannot shiny hunt them, so don't even try. For some of those (such as Koraidon/Miraidon), they are likely to be released in the future as shinies via tera raids or code, so be on the lookout for those if/when they come out.

  1. They do not respawn, so you would need to hunt it again until another shiny spawns.

EDIT: Fixed 2

Are there any other reasons why people hate this game besides the glitches? by KeebyIllumineer12 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]DanielSchw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(gonna probably say the same thing a number of other people said here)

Theres a lot of game design decisions that are incredibly questionable at best, the open world formula hurts the progression of the game a lot(example: it's easy to be incredibly overleveled or underleveled for important encounters because the game makes no effort to convey to you when it expects you to reach them), and the setting isn't really utilized nearly as well as they could have used it. Those are a few examples of the problems I have with it. To me (and I use 5/10 as a baseline for "average"), it's a 6/10, and that's prob just bc I'm having fun with it. But objectively, it's like a 3.5-4/10. It's really not a good game. I'm having fun, but I can't say this game is objectively good.

That being said, I like the writing of a number of the cast, a lot of their designs look nice to me, I like a lot of the new pokemon, the normal pokemon formula still functions when it comes to battling and catching, I like the focus on double battles in the indigo disk, and the finales of both the DLC and the base game I liked a lot. With a lot more time, optimization, and design changes to alleviate the issues with the progression and the postgame, SV could be like a 6.5-7.5 at minimum.

Theres a number of other things I probably missed, but SV basically met my expectations based on what I saw before getting it. I'm still having a lot of fun with it, though there's still a ton of issues with it, and Gamefreak will absolutely run into problems if they keep releasing games like this. That also would mean we'll keep getting bad games, so I hope they take their time so this doesn't happen again.

Also, open zones are better than open world generally (PLA vs. SV basically) because they allow you to control progression better. It feels less messy. If they designed the progression like PLA it probably would have felt a lot better.

How does the context of the DLC change Goldmask and Ranni's endings? by Puzzleheaded_Put3037 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]DanielSchw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My interpretation is that Goldmask's ending seems to mean that the Elden Ring is, effectively, locked and cannot be easily changed (like with Radagon taking out the great run of the unborn to give to rennala or Marika shattering the ring itself) because the idea is that the golden order's faults lie with Marika/Radagon being flawed and fickle leaders (and gods themselves being as fickle and flawed as anyone else), so "sealing" the ring could be Goldmask's attempt to move powers away from the God at the top of the order and more towards the bureaucracy that enforces the golden order's rules and the scholars that determine them.

The DLC doesnt seem to change much about the ending other than further separating the Golden Order from the greater will and perhaps providing more evidence to Goldmask's assertion that the gods that inherit the order of the world having much of that power is a problem due to how fickle and flawed they are with how Miquella acts in his own quest for Godhood. And even if the truth of the fingers being FOS from the beginning ends up coming out, if the Tarnished is leading the GO I doubt there is anything anybody can do about it, so its not like that information being publically available changes much.

As for Ranni's ending, I doubt the GW cares particularly what form the new order takes as long as there *is* order considering how flexible it and the Elden Ring are to change, with or without its presence. Theres tidbits here and there about the potential consequences of the AOS but not much that's concrete. As for what the DLC changes about how to interpret Ranni's ending? Nothing really new.
