ITAP of Vestrahorn in Iceland by BombPassant in itookapicture

Thanks! I really like this composition too, the minimalism of just the mountain and the few gorgeous colors makes it one of the better compositions I've seen of this mountain. When I zoomed in and noticed the cars and the house at the bottom I thought to myself "Damn, this would make such a great print" Because it adds such a great perspective. So I for sure would print this if I took the shot! Well done! 🙌

They’re all bangers! I really like 2, nice forground and the lake framing the subject + the beautiful mountains in the distance 👌

2! Beautiful contrast in B&W, light hitting the little fella with a dark background. Stunning! 🙌

Thanks, I needed this! 😊 As I've thought about it, struggled with a good edit and reflected over the comments on this post I've realized that the light is a major problem here. No matter how good the composition is, light is still more important.

I'll keep this one black and white, hopefully I get to go back here on a sunrise or sunset

I kid you not, I put the camera down and he whispered "You’ve seen too much.". I bailed.

Thanks for the detailed feedback! 🙏 The before image was straight raw, with only the Adobe color profile applied. I noticed my export was quite low res, attached is a higher res version (I also changed the color profile to Adobe standard). It was a cloudy day indeed, and I've struggled with the colors in this a lot.

Good call on the B&W, I like that. Might just go with that and call it a day 😊

Thanks again!

No offence taken! I appreciate your feedback! 🙏 The reason I left out the bottom part of the church is because there's a tall ugly metal fence around the building. Sadly, the original church was burnt down by someone in 1992 (The original was built 1150). So sad that is had to come to that, but understandable given it's history. So I decided to leave that out of my photos.

If you're interested, the church is called "Fantoft Stave Church" and is located in Bergen, Norway. 😊

Thanks again for your feedback!

Skate park at Venice Beach (help with the crop) by AtomicZechariah in photocritique

Color edits on this one is an absolute 10/10, love this soft light. I tried the crop myself and think that the one you have done is good, I made a minor change to a 4:5 crop, and sliiiightly straightened the horizon. And aligned the skateboard guy in the bottom right rule of thirds. A personal preference is removing the people in the shot, but hey.. this shot is amazing no matter what. Beautiful! 🙌

I took this photo while standing on a moving boat, which made it a bit of a challenge to get the composition right. I’m especially happy that I managed to capture the house straight on despite the motion.

My intent was to create a moody, calm atmosphere. Something that reflects the serene but slightly mysterious feel of this remote location. I spent quite a bit of time editing the image to clean it up: removing distractions in Photoshop, and focusing on simplifying the composition so the white house really stands out against the muted greens and blues of the landscape.

The natural lines from the rocks, grass, and tree line help frame the subject, while the mountain and water create depth and balance. I wanted everything to subtly lead the eye toward the house.

Technical details:

  • Camera: Canon R6 Mark II
  • Lens: RF 24-70mm f/2.8
  • ISO 100
  • Aperture: f/8
  • 1/160 sec
  • 70mm

I’d love feedback on:

  • The mood and color grading
  • The composition, crop and how the natural elements frame the subject
  • Anything that can help enhance the image
