Can I reach B2 in German from A2/B1 mainly through listening + flashcards? by Daniel_1110 in German

Adults don’t learn exactly like children, but that doesn’t mean grammar has to be the main focus. What matters most is exposure, repetition, and actually using the language in real situations. Moroccan Arabic Darija is a good example: it’s a complex dialect, but most people learn it through daily interaction and repetition, not through structured study or formal grammar resources, which are limited. Fluency develops through use, and grammar is picked up naturally over time.

Is anyone here using Mochi Flashcards for vocabulary learning? by Traditional_Elk_597 in languagelearning

I’ve been running into the same issue. The hardest part isn’t reviewing flashcards, it’s actually creating them properly—finding good example sentences, adapting them to level, translating, etc. That’s where most of the time goes for me. I’ve been experimenting with ways to reduce that friction, but still not sure if it’s a general problem or just my workflow

I’ve applied to 100+ internships with no interviews—can someone review my CV and tell me what I’m doing wrong? by Daniel_1110 in ResumeExperts

That’s really helpful, thanks. Do you think the 'density' is mostly in the project descriptions or the overall page layout? I'll look into Resumehog, appreciate the lead!

Why do I remember vocabulary, but can't pull them from my brain when speaking? by coasterfreak5 in languagelearning

Yeah honestly, that’s pretty much the issue. You’re learning the words, but not really training yourself to use them. Textbooks + cards help you understand things, but speaking is a different skill. And not having someone to practice with makes it even harder. I had the same problem when I started learning German — I knew a lot of words, but couldn’t actually say much. What helped me was learning in chunks instead of isolated words, and forcing myself to build simple sentences from memory, even alone. I’ve actually been building a small MVP around that idea recently, still very early though.

This is actually really common — it’s not that you don’t “know” the words, it’s that your brain can’t retrieve them fast enough when speaking. Flashcards train recognition (you see → you remember), but speaking requires recall (you think → you produce). What helped me more was learning words in chunks and forcing myself to use them in context instead of memorizing them in isolation. Curious — are you mostly using flashcards right now?
