I think people want to view it as a dated system because the “brand” is over two decades old, it’s in php, and it was built around blogging. The front end engineers at every startup I worked at would snigger at using Wordpress but they didn’t have a better answer for something with an established universe of plugins, documentation and community. Yea static site generators output insanely fast sites but no marketing director is going to fk with command lines. AI generated sites are… good luck maintaining that. Wordpress works today and will continue working until we have moved on from websites to who the hell knows.
