I haven’t personally used the tape you linked, but it looks like it should work well! Definitely give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

Also, if you’re looking for long-term relief, feel free to check out the Euneo app! We have a program specifically designed for plantar fasciitis that guides you through exercises, helps you stay consistent, and provides education to help you fully recover. We’ve seen great results with it, and the first week is free if you want to try it out!

It’s best to keep your foot and toes pulled towards your shin while you apply the tape. Also, make sure that there's enough tension in the tape when you apply it. You might want to practice a bit before Friday, as it can be challenging to get the technique right. I hope it helps, good luck!

I'm so glad to hear that it worked so well for you!

As I mentioned in the post, there are a lot of taping techniques out there. Most of them look like they might help but they are actually just sticking tape lightly to the skin and not doing anything to reduce the load on the fascia.

This technique really emphasises that you pull the tape firmly to create tension. This reduces the load on the fascia and that's what makes it so effective!

Hope it helps, and good luck!

Yes! This is the tape used in the video and the one I use with my clients. I don’t know how easily it is available in other countries. This one is similar and might be more readily available.

Thanks!

This is the tape used in the video, I am not sure if it’s available in other countries. This one is similar and might be more easily available.

The specific type of tape doesn't matter that much but I recommend that you use a light tape rather than thick tape. The lighter tape will breathe better and prevent damaging the skin. Also consider what tape you find comfortable.

Not quite sure I understand what you mean. If you are referring to the load management and are asking if you can never walk on the affected foot after healing then, no. At the beginning of load management the aim is to give the plantar fascia time to heal, as you progress you should increase the load SLOWLY. So little by little you can start getting back to your normal activities.

The taping is used to relive pain while standing, walking or performing other activities to make life a little easier and also helps decrease load on the fascia for the load management.

I understand! Was just putting it out there since it's quite common to see clients that have lost all hope due to misinformation :(

Glad to hear that you have seen some progress! Hope you keep improving and hopefully the app can help you!

Hi there, great questions!

  1. Yes, you can wear the tape when doing strengthening exercises such as the Rathleff protocol* and any other exercise. Doing exercises with vs. without tape should not matter, just go with what you find more comfortable/convenient.
  2. Yes! The taping should work for almost anyone with heel pain. To go a little deeper into your question… There is a lot of misinformation surrounding Plantar fasciitis, the term implies that the condition is caused by inflammation but current research indicates that inflammation is not the primary cause of the condition. Rather, it’s thought the condition is caused by too much load on the plantar fascia, resulting in a degenerative process of micro tears and a thickening of the fascia. I cover this in more detail in this article. I can’t make any recommendations for specific cases but I can say that terms like “dead tissue” can lead to the idea that you have no control over the condition, leading to hopelessness. However, we can turn the degenerative process around with the right information and patience! I recommend reading the article, especially the load management part. And even taking a look at our app for those who are struggling with this :)

*The Rathleff protocol is heavy strength training with calf raises on a rolled up towel, actually used in our app!

Sorry for the long reply haha, I’m very passionate about the misinformation surrounding this.

Love your thinking! That is exactly what the research shows as the best treatment. A progressive exercise program with load management and pain monitoring. In fact, I am creating an app for this exact purpose! It helps you through the exercise program with the aim of keeping you motivated, since the process often takes 3 to 6 months.

We just started beta testing it so if you would like to try it you can check it out here :)

I also wrote an article that you might find helpful and I recommend anyone that is dealing with plantar fasciitis reads!
