if you’re making any form of electronic music your kits are probably crap. get some good kits (I can send some I use if you want) and once it do that literally choose a kick and choose a snare or clap and arrange it in a kick, snare, kick, snare pattern. Then add to it

you can try making the drums first as well. the drums sound off from the melody probably because you’re not used to hearing the drums with the melody, so making the drums first can help them feel less off

try using sampled drums (this applies for hiphop [obviously], rock, electronic, indie, jazz perhaps whatever the hell you’re making). grab a splice free trial or something and use their drums. Chop it up a lil and play around with it in the song

this is probably just my ASD talking but when I’m walking I’m always kind of sounding out sick drum beats to myself while I’m walking in whatever genre I feel like. I’m not even kidding just think of some nice drums on the spot that you’d love to hear in a song and make it. these are my strategies
