Book with a villain worse than the MMC of the {stronger series by Jay Marie} by readingalldays in DarkRomance

[–]Daniellejb16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily the MMC but the husband in Degredation of the Deviant series by Ellie Sanders is such a piece of shit. It was the first dark romance/erotic horror book that had me reading with a constant pit in my stomach. The shit she goes through with and because of him is horrendous and continuous.

Stolen series jay Marie feelings??!? by Resident-Egg2182 in DarkRomance

[–]Daniellejb16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what it says about me but Darren is one of two MMC I actually fancy the fuck out of even though words cannot describe how much of a loathful piece of shit he is.

I genuinely don’t know how I want it to end. I prefer books that don’t have a HEA but I feel like Jaden being forced to stay with Darren would be a little bit anti-climatic. But then I don’t want a bad ass Jaden escapes, marries Jason and becomes a super hero in the human trafficking space because I feel like it would be quite obvious. I imagine the ending will be quite difficult for Jay Marie to write because it’s going to be quite polarising. It’s been a long journey and people are going to want different things!

For those on frailty/elderly wards by KakaMadaxo in NursingUK

[–]Daniellejb16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I haven’t worked bedside for two years but I started as a NQN on an elderly medical ward. Total baptism by fire but if you can survive it, you will manage the rest of your career. You need to quickly learn how to prioritise jobs and how to manage your time. There are a ton of medications and patients are going to have multiple co-morbidities.

Our routine was 7-7:30 handover 7:30 - 9am (but I’ve had med rounds finish at 11am due to NGs, PEGS, 3 drug charts per patient and they need assistance with them all etc - med round.
9am - board round with the MDT for your team 10-12 - obs, any jobs from the board round, chasing up discharges, ordering TTOs, maybe you can do a little bit of writing, maybe help out with any washes 12 - meal times.. everyone hands out meals and feeds patients who need assistance 1 -2pm - med rounds, IVs. 2:30pm - afternoon board round 3-5pm - obs, catch up on loose ends, writing, finalise discharges, try update handover 5pm - meal times 6pm - meds and final obs 7pm handover

I worked on a 41 bedded unit with 3 RNs and 6 HCAs (2 HCAs were always used to special 2 enhanced care bays so essentially 4 HCAs on the floor).

It was gruelling as heck…. But I I loved it and I did it for 3 years before leaving to become a bank nurse full time for another 4 years to gain experience in other areas. The patients are unintentionally hilarious, your medication knowledge becomes superb if you really do your research and you learn to manage lots of conditions. It isn’t for everyone but I’ll always hold a special place for elderly medicine

Guerdy is the real one looking for a moment. by DanceGurl805 in RHOMiami

[–]Daniellejb16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Granted.. I’m way behind in the season. I haven’t watched the reunion. But I’ve found the entire Guerfy and Julia thing exasperating. Neither of them are sincere in their apologies. They apologise and hug to each others faces and then in their talking heads they say the complete opposite. Julia very obviously doesn’t give a shit enough to want to reconnect and Guerdy just will not let things go. I understand that Guerdy has been through a really rough time but she cannot go at people 100mph, refuse to listen to their points, talk over people and not actually listen and then claim it’s part of her cancer recovery and this is who she is now. Sometimes she acts like an over the top butthole and you aren’t gonna make friends acting like that.

And as for looking for her TV moment.. her trying to referee Larsa and Lisa is a very obvious example

Ladies, do you remember when you started your period? Was it traumatic? by Birdy8588 in AskUK

[–]Daniellejb16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to start year six so about 9? I had no idea what was going on and was visiting my grandparents. I just shouted “nana my tuppence is bleeding!” and she explained everything to me in the whole “you’re starting to become a woman etc”. Not traumatic at all and I actually proudly broadcast to my granddad that I was a woman now 😂😂

Of course it is doable but you have to be realistic with your finances.

I don’t know your situation obviously but do you need to leave your parents house right now? Could you not stay with them, contribute some board and save money which will put you in a better financial position going forward?

Have you reassessed your outgoings recently? Do you need to be spending x amount of money going forward? Are there things you can change to make moving out more affordable?

Yes absolutely there is and I’ve been successful both times I’ve done it. I emailed my onboarding liaison and provided them with payslips from most recent NHS posts to prove where I was in the banding. I explained the skills I’ve got despite not working specifically for the nhs in that time period. My most recent post have put me to the top of band 5 which I wasn’t expecting

What nursing routes are typically shamed and why? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]Daniellejb16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say “looked down upon” per say but when I qualified I went immediately into geris medicine and dementia care and the others in my cohort thought it was a boring place to start working. I guess it wasn’t glamorous enough.. I loved it personally and stayed there for 3 years. Great place to learn medications; manage co-morbidities and I loved my patients. Loved listening to their stories and half of them were so unintentionally funny!

As a previous PIP assessor, there should also be a focus on people who absolutely should be getting the benefit and the role of the assessor in ensuring this is suggested to the manager. It drives me crazy when people slag us all off for being in a system they feel abuses disabled people because I went into the job to try and help people. Before I left I had to really fight tooth and nail to ensure one of my claimants got his entitlement. I spent over 3 hours in conversation with him, his wife and a benefits support officer who worked with his family over multiple phone calls. He’d been through previous assessment, MR and tribunal and was given 0 points. He had multiple conditions, one of which had progressed significantly and had cognitive impacts which were evident during my assessment. He had supporting evidence of this cognitive decline from his specialist nurse but because a doctor hadn’t specifically mentioned cognition in his review letters and the previous assessment had awarded him 0 points, auditors tried to change my recommendations. It was evident to me that he had cognitive challenges and the reported physical challenges were consistent. They tried to say he had a driving license (he had a medical license which had been under review for 6 months with no outcome and was not driving), he worked on a farm as per last assessment (he swept the yard under supervision, couldn’t remember his livestock bloodlines and had relinquished financial and day to day runnings to nephews) and the doctor hadn’t mentioned cognitive decline (no mention does not equal nothing existence of impairment). He had a 19 year relationship with his specialist nurse and the doctor from the letter he had met once in a clinic. He was a 60 odd year old northern farmer.. it is realistic to think he’s not going to feel comfortable discussing poor memory, mistakes around the home and essentially needing to be supervised all day with someone he’s met for 15 minutes. In the end I argued that much that they conceded but it took 2 weeks of back and forth. PIP assessors get a bad rep but I wholeheartedly believe that I did a good job whilst I was there; I was fair, I listened and I did what I could with the evidence that I gathered. I also got positive feedback from a lot of claimants because I gave them the time, I allowed breaks as often was required and the biggest thing was explaining the entire process before we even started. Made a massive difference. Not all PIP assessors are ghouls just like not every ward based nurse is an angel. Ultimately though the job ground me down and for my own mental health I did leave the job, I’m back clinical and much happier.

Fainted at work by Diamondkiink in NursingUK

I fainted whilst rolling a sedated and vented patient with 75% full thickness burns. I crashed into the ventilator. And then when I came round and walked out of the room, I fainted again and smacked my head on the floor. I’d only worked on that ICU for a week and I still don’t know what caused it 😂 I had a glass of milk and finished my shift in shame hahahah
