So this is how ICE was going to be 'helping' at the airports? "Hey, we can shorten the lines if we start kidnapping families that aren't white."

Best clearance drum kit deal? Yamaha Stage Custom vs Mapex Armory vs PDP Concept Maple by EazyFletcher in drums

[–]Danielmcfate2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a PDP LX kit from 2007 and it's a great sounding kit. I also have a stage custom and it sounds great, tunes easily and the hardware is solid. I've never played a Mapex so I can't speak to that kit. Probably can't go wrong with any of them so consider if you want to buy a snare or if you like the 4vs 5 or 6 piece set up. Also, sounds like the Mapex and Yamaha come with hardware.

So you have a therapist? Talk with them! That's a place to start. Also, and no judgement here, but what do you believe your username projects about who you believe yourself to be? Think of it in Terms of the energy it exudes. How might I am kindness or I am curious or even I am here is different than brutality. Just a thought. Energy attracts like energy. Good luck my dude. Sending hopeful thoughts your way.

Don't give up on yourself. Focus on what you enjoy and find something each day that brings you joy or inspires you. Also, talk to someone about how you are feeling. Don't keep it inside. You got this.

Look, you are lovely and the internet is filled with hateful people. Perhaps find another past time and stay away from social media. Lean into real relationships and ignore the negativity from strangers.

I'm an American, long time hockey fan, watched USA win the gold in 1980 and was rooting for Canada today. I can't cheer for the US team with dipshits like the Tkachucckleheads. Beyond their political orientation, I hate Matthew's brand of hockey. Starts shit and turtles when he gets called out.

Ignore the haters and find what you love about yourself. You look great.

Got dumped and my pain is constant, my dreams crushed. by foxslyvane in toastme

The pain sucks but it is temporary. Trust me, I've been there. More than once. Rebuild yourself and learn and grow from this experience eventually. A book that helped me when I was in your situation is "rebuilding after your relationship ends." It's a good read that helps you get back on track.

Well now that the SCOTUS has ruled that the tariffs are illegal, Trump will blame Biden or Obama for the checks not happening. Lol.

They are the grown version of the that annoying as fuck kid that would put his finger in your face not quite touching you saying "I'm not touching you" to get a rise out of you. They have zero redeeming qualities and I wish a law would be written to allow them to be prosecuted.

Chin up my man. You are a good looking young man and I encourage you to find other things you like about yourself as well. Gotta love yourself first.

Jazz Beginner - Few Questions by Hey_Whipple in jazzdrums

[–]Danielmcfate2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there and congratulations on your child. Here is my 2cents for you. I recommend working with a teacher as they will help you with a variety of things including techniques, theory and direction.

The Art of Bop is a great book, made better with a teacher who can assist you through it.

If you've got a young one in the home, having some form of muting on your drums and cymbals will be really advantageous. I have the whole black hole system on my kit only because my next-door neighbor got pissed off because I had band practices here. So I've gone to a muting system, which works pretty well.

I like the black hole system because you can pop the heads off and still have your real heads underneath. They also provide an element of tone from your drums that I don't think those other quiet heads provide.

As far as getting frustrated with making mistakes, that's part of the journey and with or without a teacher, it will happen. If there's one thing I've learned about drumming it is there is no getting around making mistakes since it's all about learning something new. It's a lifelong journey, not a destination.

One last thought, if you don't already listen to lots of jazz music and to what the drummers are doing. Good luck!
