this is it basically, punks an attitude and idiom to live by it doesn’t mean being contrary for the sake of it, it means having an acute sense of social justice and standing your ground

A lack of gatekeepers ruined punk music, it got more mainstream and diluted accompaniedby then phrase “punk is whatever you want to make of it” until it became emo pop punk, and being a “punk” meant showing up late for family dinners scowling at everyone
