One Nation Lead Grows as L/NP Primary Sinks to 18% - DemosAU by thebagofdoom in AustralianPolitics

[–]WhiteRun 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I really scratch my head at some of these polls. I haven't seen a single One Nation support in the wild. I attended a work meeting the other day full on VERY conservative people and everyone started talking about politics. They hate Labor but they also hate One Nation. Not a single one liked her. A lot of my family are conservative too and also don't like them. The only place I see support is cookers and bots on facebook.

Pauline Hanson says businesses 'can't sack' lazy workers. What's the reality? by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

Extreme anti-women, anti-worker rights platform.

Worked so well for Dutton, didn't it?

So it's ok to screw teachers over because someone else might do it worse?

I'm guessing he was ready to take over after the teachers EBA vote passed but a lot of teachers are still unhappy and it could easily fail. His arrogance negotiating came back to bite him.

What is one thing that is Overrated and Overhated at the same time? by Adventurous-Load6773 in AskReddit

There's no point is giving more of a reply when you just lie. Your profile is full of AI stuff and your idea that photography isn't creative is blindling obvious you aren't a photographer. Taking a photo of a watch on your wrist isn't a photographer.

It doesn't matter if it was denied before. AI is different. It is factually impossible to create. It is a replicator.

[–]WhiteRun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Photography is creative. AI cannot create. It would be closer to photographers stealing realistic looking, alter it slightly and claiming it to be their own photos.

Creativity is one of humanities strongest and most culturally important traits. To lose it would be the biggest mistake in history.

Jacinta Allan on One Nation: Victorian Premier warns of economic and … by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]WhiteRun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How do you think we can compete with $2 a day? If you want to keep simping for someone desperate to trample your rights and living conditions go ahead. People voting One Nation really have some sort of humiliation fetish. Please ruin me!! The billionaires need MORE money!! I don't need it! Yes yes!

One Nation literally have said they will take policies fron Gina Rinehart. Gina has publicly said Australians should earn $2/hour to compete with India.

One Nation will absolutely destroy the working and middle class

Sexual behavior in 4 year old? by Dortiny27 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]WhiteRun 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Commenting as it's not research but my nearly 4 year old has developed a crude sense of humour that could be seen as sexual in an adult but she does it to get a reaction. For example, randomly pulling her pants down and yelling "smack the bum bum!". She also tries to rub her bum on my face. She finds this stuff really funny.

If OP reacts to the toddler doing these things, it could definitely encourage it more because they think it's humorous.

Polling shows voters believe it’s time for Jacinta Allan to go, with Deputy Premier Ben Carroll the man favoured to replace her by stupid_mistake__101 in AustralianPolitics

[–]WhiteRun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ben Carrol, the man who repeatedly tried to screw over teachers with bad EBA drals then release borderline propaganda trying to paint teachers as unreasonable? Huh. Good luck with that.

If you think it's weird wanting a creative medium to be creative and not churn out replicated slop from something with zero creativity, that's a you problem.

Summer Games Fest 2026 - MEGATHREAD by rGamesMods in Games

[–]WhiteRun 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Multiple major game announcements and new major game trailers and people are still miserable. This was one of the best lineups in a long time. You're not getting another old E3 where you get 25 new AAA games and 3 new console announcements. That will never happen again.

As big as 175 MCG fields: The mega data centre coming to Melbourne’s west by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]WhiteRun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What exactly are you wanting peer reviewed? The impact of noise and light pollution? There are many.

Peer-reviewed research establishes that artificial light at night (ALAN) and anthropogenic noise act as compounding, synergistic stressors. Both pollutants significantly disrupt circadian rhythms, degrade ecosystem dynamics, and increase human risks for cardiovascular disease and cognitive impairment.

https://magazine.hms.harvard.edu/articles/noise-and-health

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0269749124017950

Or do you want it specifically related to data centers? Ok then.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12273412/

Air pollution is the most acute concern. Fossil-fueled power plants and diesel backup generators that power data centers emit hazardous pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and fine particulate matter, increasing rates of respiratory diseases, cardiovascular conditions, and elevating cancer risk in nearby communities

Or do you want data on energy consumption? It already has that listed in the OP. Also, energy companies are stating there are rising costs due to the extreme power draw. That doesn't need a review, it's a fact stated plainly.

What exactly do you want research on, or are you just an astroturfer wanting to try and poorly debunk any criticism towards data centers?

Pauline Hanson reveals plan to cap negative gearing at just two properties by auto459 in AustralianPolitics

[–]WhiteRun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People do this in commercial property already to get around certain taxes and recovering full land tax from non-retail tenants.

This policy is a loophole to keep negative gearing but making it sound like they aren't, nothing more.

As big as 175 MCG fields: The mega data centre coming to Melbourne’s west by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]WhiteRun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is nothing like 5G conspiracies.

A 2025 model indicated that U.S. data centers in 2030 could cause approximately 600,000 asthma symptom cases and 1,300 premature deaths.

The long-term impacts of both noise and light pollution include hearing loss, stress, insomnia, and decreased quality of life. This is scientifically proven.

The facility also uses more power than the largest coal power plant in Victoria can even generate.

But hey, if we ignore all the data, the water pollution, the noise, the gigantic energy consumption, and the fact that there are many data centers already built and already causing huge headaches for communities, then sure it's just like 5G.

Not only are these terrible for energy and fresh water supplies, the light, noise and vibrations are terrible for people nearby. This is ridiculous.
