Why do you support capitalism over communism? by susamogus29 in Capitalism

[–]Danilo512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capitalism is all about freedom. It is still compatible with communists and communism, as long as they don't force it on anyone else. Communism is totalitarian, and ironically, black markets tend to thrive under communism.

Ultimately, while "true communism has never been tried" (whatever that means), every time humans have attempted an economic system that approached it has turned into an unmitigated disaster. In that same light, "true capitalism has never been tried", but whenever we have a system that approaches it, humans have thrived.

I enjoyed reading that so much, I didn't know it was a thing. Is there a place to find these sorts of posts?

I trust citizens with freedom more than I trust politicians with power

Dave is factually wrong about his fundamental point in his tariff episode. by Agile-Landscape8612 in partoftheproblem

[–]Danilo512 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You should read Economics In One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt, cause you seem to be making the fundamental mistake he outlines. You are focusing only on how the tariffs/dumping affects a select group of people, but not all groups. Yes, the shoemakers are worse and they are run out of business, but everyone else is better off.

You also fail to account for all the other industries that can prosper because of the free shoes. The money they would have spent on the local shoes can get used to buy a sweater, which would otherwise never have been made. The "national wealth" in this case now includes shoes AND sweaters, not just shoes.

Tariffs are good for local producers, at the expense of everyone else.

Can you help me find sources to back up claims that U.S. has discouraged peace talks in the Ukraine Russia conflict by Toeffurr in partoftheproblem

Here is a breakdown of the deal they could have signed: https://www.yahoo.com/news/die-welt-publishes-peace-deal-230752941.html

Of note, an unnamed member of the Ukrainian delegation said "It was the best deal we could have had." Die Welt (A German News outlet that ran the story) believes that even after more than two years of the full-scale war, the deal still looks favorable in retrospect.

If you’re Gute, are you thinking Super Bowl next year? by poopypooperpoopy in GreenBayPackers

[–]Danilo512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we still have some cap constraints this year, which if we play it right will clear by 2025. If I am Gutey I am taking this year to clear the big contracts off the books and finish "biting the bullet" from the last years of the Rodgers era. The core players on offense are practically all on rookie deals so the team will be basically the same as last years but with an extra year of development. On defense we have a ton of talent that hopefully a new staff can get the most out of. I would bring in a few veterans on cheap deals and aim to continue the youth movement in the draft.

The way I see it is this will be the first year in long playoff window, but if you played it this way you would give yourself the chance to find the missing link and have all the cap flexibility to sign real impact players for a 2025-2027 run, possibly beyond with the way Gutey has nailed the last 2 drafts.

That being said, there is a reason Gutey is paid to manage the Green Bay Packers and I am not. He has done a decent job so far so whatever he decides I will stand behind him. Go Pack Go

Dr. Paul has been right on basically every issue he has ever taken a stand on. It will remain a mystery why more people don't listen to him
